Why not?

First, he is the first black president of USA.

Second, from today he is the most "powerful" man on the planet. Which means he is the one and his cabinet whom Pakistan will be interacting with the next four years.

Third, This will have a impact on Pakistans defence related procurements in the future (from USA).

Well part of his message can be looked as a more "diplomatic" way of saying terrorism and dictators should vanish, but there is more.

I think Obama acknowledges that the "policies" Bush adminstration executed has created a bigger rift between the western world (especially USA) and the muslim world

My interpretation of these sentences are more like that one must remember that part of the speech there is some criticism of Bush administrations politics during the last 8 years and what Obama want to correctchange. And his whole election campaign based on "change" would surely not reflect the same policies as the Bush administration had post 911

This can be seen upon as to repair the "rift" Bush administration created between the western world and the muslim world with the WoT. He will try to close down the Guantanomo Bay prison camp, and a new strategy for a quick pullout from Iraq (which will take some time, but less then what the republicans would use). The troops released from Iraq can concentrate more on Afghanistan and fighting terrorismrebuilding the country.

But i think he will have more support for Israel, as shown in his election campaign and selection of some very Israel-friendly staff like Hillary Clinton and Rahm Emanuel

Time will show, but hope he brings the "change" as he has talked so much about.

No, he did not i think. But he has made a point on several occasions.

Everythime a new leader takes on, be it a country, organization or a 7\11 shop, they must make changes to make them self "visible" as the new leader. I think this is Obama's "move" to say this is a new president, new leader.

The links also refer to the statement of Tom Tancredo saying that he can bomb Mecca. This was taken as a vow by Muslims as a take by the 'would be' (to include Obama) US President.

Tom Tancredo was Republican Presidental candidate! He pulled out from the race on 20. December 2007. What kind of statements do you really except from a man who is known for his hard stand against illegal and exsessive immigration to America? These kind of statements are a well used trick to play on fear and gain PR. Just look at all super-right wing parties in Europe they use it all the time, and it does not shock me when a republican anti-immgration politican do the same.

I offcourse respect your opinion, but for the sake of the argument, you cannot claim that the West generalizes all muslims as terrorists. Thats a bit overblown. I have lived all my life in the west and never felt like a terrorist. You see the "West" is not a entity, but rather different nations with many rational people who know the difference between muslims and fundamental extremist and there is always a group who cannot see\understands the difference.

I admit that the media try do demonize muslims by portraying them as blood thirsty extremists going after infidels, but thats the human nature. You need to fear someone, and there is always someone in line, muslims was just the group after the communists. Plus it makes extra sales.

These are exactly the things which we Muslims want you people to understand. And i am glad that you did.

It's easier said then done, that one should laugh away things what Tom said. Not everybody is as literate, liberal and open minded as many others are. They might not understand the difference.
Something like what Tom said are said deliberately to instigate, because the instigators know that this is going to lead to something or some action to which they can retaliate and can get an excuse to further their goals.

What should the Pakistanis do when Obama says he will attack Pakistan if he gets an some piece of 'evidence'. Now either he is unable to differentiate that phenomenon that you have referred to or that he considers everybody INSIDE Pakistan a terrorist.

It is similar to what you have said in your post, some freaks screwing at our western borders doesn't qualify us ALL to become terrorists and doesn't atall merit unilateral strikes inside Pakistan.

It is again something similar to when Usama says that as "Americans" have done bad to us we will kill any American that we find may it combatant or a non-combatant.

The only difference between the above two statements is that the Attacker and the Attacked are altered, the motive and reasons remained the same!
