In a developing country, it is difficult to control imports. There are demands for luxury goods and the govt needs tax money. This trend continues for decades and the deficits are covered with money borrowed from monetary organizations.
I do not think, BD is the only developing country to face a huge trade deficit. I believe the situation will start changing. The only way is to export more and the govt/ private companies have set a goal of exporting $100 billion worth of goods by 2030.
This is attainable even before 2030. BD is now a well-known source of textiles that will be more famous in the coming year. Chinese labor costs are increasing and the consumer countries will go for cheaper sources. BD is one such source.
