Power generation crossed a milestone of 10,000 megawatts for the first time in Bangladesh.

The Power Development Board or PDB said Bangladesh generated 10,084MW of electricity around 7pm on Monday.

“Power generation has been increasing for the last few days,” said PDB spokesman Md Saiful Islam.

The demand for power generation was also 10,000 MW at that point in time.

Although electricity generation reached its peak, parts of in the capital experienced load shedding in the afternoon as demand surged.

“This could be load shedding, or technical glitch that caused power failure during that time,” said Islam.

However, a report by the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh said there has been no load shedding at 2pm on Monday when electricity generation was 9,938MW.

Electricity generation reached 9,715MW on March 15, and gradually increased to 10,000 MW.

The previous highest production of power was 9,471MW generated at 10pm on May 28, 2017.

The number of power plants increased to 108 from 27 when the ruling Awami League government came into power in 2009.

More power plants hiked the power generation capacity to 15,351MW from 4,942MW.

At least 80 percent of the population is now under electricity coverage, rising from 47 percent in 2009

Only 10,000 MW?!?! We produce over 300,000 MW! No wonder bangler has 12-15 hr blackouts daily.
We have lot of captive power plants. Most industries uses their own power from gas instead of grid power. Yet India is far ahead of us when it comes to grid electricity production.

For India, over 300,000 MW is not the actual supply, but installed capacity. In 2017-2018 year actual supply in India is 160,752 MW average. For Bangladesh, installed capacity is 16,000 MW out of which 10,000 MW can be supplied.

So, for 8 times more population than BD, India consume 16 times more electricity.Or 2 times more per capita wise. Indian power consumption is even higher than Sri Lanka. Do you think, Sri Lanka has less household electrification or less developed country than India? Absolutely not, Indian high power consumption is related to other factors. Now, does it looks BD is very much behind India in electricity consumption by common people? Not obviously.

BD has 3 huge power plants in construction right now.
By 2030 I think BD will narrow this lead India has.

A country which claims to become more prosperous than Pakistan is celebrating crossing 10K in total production capacity in a meanwhile Pakistan added more then 10K in her total generation capacity in last four years.

says a lot about development.

No 10GW in generation but 16GW total installed capacity.
Current power projects under construction are 1.32 GW Payra Coal, 1.2 GW Matarbari Coal and 2.4GW Roopur Nuclear.

PS - I am tired of having to keep reminding people of cumulative wealth.
From only 50% of GDP/ capita 10 years ago, BD has last year surpassed Pakistan and is currently growing GDP capita twice as fast. BD economy is on a completely new level of industrialization compared to Pakistan.

so that "completely new level" of industrialization doesn't need basics like electricity?:enjoy:

FYI Pakistan total capacity was more then 25K and added more than 10K in last 4 years cz of demand........

LOL, !ndian has billion+ pops you illiterate bakra...

12-15 hours of blackouts, really? In !ndia maybe...

Seems like something bad happened with you when you were shiting on railway tracks. Too much nonsense...

Production capacity is 16,000MW.Actual production is 10,000 MW.Not all power plant in all times generate electricity in peak performance. You should know this basic.

Pakistan's production/installed capacity is around 25,000MW but actual production is 16000-17000MW.You should not forget, Pakistan has 40 million more people than Bangladesh and both summer and winter are extreme in Pakistan compared to BD, which require more electricity. That's why even after generating more electricity per capita than BD, Pakistan experience more load shedding than Bangladesh.

another fantasy and weird logic only can be expected from you guys that.

pls also share the source of your claim highlighted above:woot::enjoy:

and from your Logic Canada and Russia Electricity consumption should be lowest since they hardly get any summer:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Lets be serious, shall we?
If you have less load-shedding then why this?
Textiles on the move: from Pakistan to Bangladesh
https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-p...-pakistan-to-bangladesh-idUKTRE77T11020110830
“Bangladesh also has energy problems but, unlike us, they are managing it and managing it well,” said Salamat, whose company, Tauseef Enterprises, has 3,000 employees in Pakistan. “The energy crisis has increased the cost of doing business in Pakistan.”
Pakistan’s textile industry accounts for 38 percent of workers in the manufacturing sector and over half of its exports.

Textile industry: ‘Give me electricity or I will move to Bangladesh’
https://tribune.com.pk/story/233698...-me-electricity-or-i-will-move-to-bangladesh/
Faced with a chronic energy crisis in Pakistan, many textile manufacturers in Faisalabad – the country’s textile hub – are voting with their feet and moving their manufacturing units to Bangladesh.

For its part, Bangladesh has been offering a lot of incentives, including uninterrupted power supply (at cheaper rates than in Pakistan)

You know I really wonder many things about Pakistan........they they say Pakistan is much ahead in industrial sector compared to Bangladesh......then what does Pakistan make? How much is their export? They make fun of Bangladesh because garments is our major export item......and a surprise is Textile is Pakistan's main export item as well.....I don't really understand you guys..
