Britain's overwhelming favourite to be the next prime minister, Boris Johnson, has singled out Bangladeshis, Jewish refugees from Tsarist Russia, and Huguenots from France for shaping the British culture.

These groups of immigrants have “adapted and they have made their lives and they have helped to make our national culture and they have bought into it”, he said, according to HuffpostUk.

Johnson stressed that the story of immigration in the UK is “amazing”, and praised the “extraordinary economic success and dynamism” of people who have moved to Britain from overseas.

At a Tory leadership hustings in Darlington, he went on: “That’s what I want for our country, I want everybody who comes here and makes their lives here to be and to feel British.

The British politician also said immigration had helped London become the most economically successful area in Europe, and that it was driving similar growth in other cities around the UK.

British Future, the integration think-tank, welcomed Johnson’s comments but urged him to take serious action to boost funding for English language tuition if he becomes PM.

@Nilgiri and other Indians, the news above is an eye opener for you guys about the ill position that non-Bangladeshis, especially Indians, are holding in the British society. It seems Indians remain a non-active and non-existent group of immigrants in England.

It is we who have contributed to the British culture. No wonder that many of the British MPs love to visit our country from time to time. Here, Boris Johnson even forgot to mention if there are immigrants also from India and if there exists a country called India. Very sad.

I think he likes Bangladeshis because Bangladeshis are force multipliers. But not challenger to establishment itself and never will be in a leadership position to dictate anything. But the Pakistanis and Indians will be. Any natives will will fear these dominant group of immigrants. For example from Pakistan, Sajid Javid, Sadiq khan, Anjem Choudhuri these are some prominent names and from India the Sikh community which roams around with daggers.

I do not know. But your question can be answered by the Britishers themselves. So, send an email to Boris Johnson asking why he did not even mention about Indian contributions. There must be no contribution by Indians there except to speak English with good Cocni accent. Our people know only Yes, No, Very Good and Thank you but they are physically fit, work hard and contribute to the economy of a country they immigrate. Indians should be expelled from London.

Expatriate Indians are a joke throughout the world. Boris Johnson thinks so. There should be an international movement for expelling the Indians from the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. I have even heard they circumvent the local rules and cheat these host countries to collect dole from the govts there.

Hardworking people from Bangladesh should substitute them. Indians should be sent to Saudi Arabia where there is no dole.

Yah, we take much heed of who gets mentioned and doesn't get mentioned by some flim flam politician lol.

Real immigrants dont care, we let numbers and results speak for themselves.

Only cheap pieces of no-name crap cling onto every single thing some master may or may mention of them....because they have a deep-set inferiority complex.

Same no-name crap that shamelessly hate their identity so much, they call their restaurants (their only business of note) as Indian wherever they go.

Then when you actually show results of this community in what they earn and do, the next big conspiracy is that its because they are sylheti lol....and "bangals" are much better.

Need me to post what you bhikari kanjoosis earn in UK? or US? or anywhere you go? Compared to lowest of the low africans and caribbean types even? It takes a special level of stupid and worthlessness to do that badly. Then you breed like rabbits too.....TFR of 3+ in developed countries,....living off welfare, huddling together and stinking up ghettos... just disgusting.

I guess to forget all that reality, BD coolie media needs to latch onto every passerby master that mentions them for whatever reason.......and jokers like yourself need to do your dutiful worship because you are sick of the daily reality check that comes your way.

A very London centric perspective from Boris. The Bengali community is prominent there and Boris does live in a bubble.

To exclude the contribution of the Pakistani, Indian, Caribbean and Polish communities is disrespectful. Post War British industry was fuelled by these groups. Without them Britain Post War would have had no workforce for industry.

The Gujurati community setup shops on every corner, the Pakistani and Indians followed. The only high streets still active in commerce in British towns and cities are in the ethnic areas. There has been a rich vein of entrepreneurial spirit in these communities. They are ever present in healthcare and the NHS, I could go on.

Not to discount the contributions of our Bengali community of course.

Boris is certainly an idiot of the highest order, but then what is new!

You are right that he is being London centric.

All immigrants communities have enriched the UK and made it a much more interesting country than what it would otherwise be.
