Bangladeshi scientists claim breakthrough in rice research

I am certain this variety tastes like shit (going by stock photo of small, round rice)
if it was basmati variety they worked than I take back my words

How rice looks has almost no connection with how it tastes.

Small almost round variety in Bangladesh (with nutty taste) called "Chinigura" is the number one choice for cooking wedding Biryani and Pulau locally.

You guys are making me hungry and its lunchtime ... (heads to kitchen)...

Brown rice is much better but Bangladeshis hate it. Too healthy.

I have always eaten Brown variety but lately I have taken a liking to red variety too.

And you are right, you have to add almost double the water in a rice cooker.

Goes great with grilled vegetables in a chopped avocado salad. Nothing is boring when you can turn boring into great!

Basmati is not a good rice... i guess it comes down to personal choice.

In BD small rice grain such as kalijeera is the most sought after because of its quality and taste rather than the large grained flavourless basmati.

Basmati is what the wheatbelt of the subcontinent thinks is quality rice because of general ignorance about the product.

None of the rice belt countries of asia values basmati because its just crap.
