Fairly common, to our women we see it as part of our culture rather than a religious symbol.

Fairly common, to our women we see it as part of our culture rather than a religious symbol.

Bindi is fairly common (especially matched with traditional outfits like sarees etc.) during traditional celebrations like Bengali New Year. Bindi is obviously not worn with modern/western outfits.

Some young women (even unmarried ones) go a step farther and apply Sindoor in between the parts of their hair as a fashion thing during the Bengali New Year festival.

Please don't ask me why - because trying to find logic in these things is futile. I gave up a long time ago.
