The Teesta River originates from the Pahunri (or Teesta Kangse) glacier above 7,068 metres (23,189 ft), and flows southward through gorges and rapids in the Sikkim Himalaya. It flows through Sikkim, West Bengal and Bangladesh where after coursing through about 45km of irrigable land, merges with the Brahmaputra River.

In 1983, an ad-hoc water sharing agreement was reached between India and Bangladesh, whereby both countries were allocated 39% and 36% of the water flow respectively.
However, the deal fell through when the then newly elected Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, refused to approve the treaty, fearing that the loss of higher volume of water to the lower riparian would cause problems in the northern region of state, especially during drier months

If its to do with the cause of Kashmir then sure why not, I am confident most Bengali people will side with Pakistan for that reason & in some cases even talk about 1971 civil war. In the UK the Kashmir cause is getting a lot of exposure, so it's a cause that were are very sympathetic for.

neither India nor BD will throw it away but fight it out. But water is only part of the equation BD as such discontentment with water will remain whoever comes but BD will strive to have peace with India to ensure continued economic progress. Neither BD or India have anything to gain by fighting over water given that water flow is highly seasonal and neither of them can have definite control over it.

India is no great friend of Bangladesh - no big nation ever is, when it comes to a small neighbor. But the murderous BSF has a LONG, LONG way to go before it can even dream of the atrocities Pakistan committed against Bangladesh.
However if it weren't for the Indian helping hand - both militarily and humanitarian, victory and independence would have come at a much higher price.

So, yeah...while it may make zero difference (I am under no delusions as to our military or diplomatic 'clout')..it's natural, we'd side with India (morally) if Pakistan wrongfully attacked India.

Boot-lickers? Sure...if that's what you want to call us...I'd rather be that, than have muslim 'brothers' who gleefully raped their muslim 'sisters'.

The Pro - Jamaati faction on here most based in the UK is probably shedding tears of rage and cursing Sheikh Hasina and AL...It's cool fellas, if a war breaks out again, you can do what your spiritual forefathers did...join up with the razakars

Why add my nations flag like that and show its kissing someone's feet? We are Muslim mojority, have some respect and principle. Islamically kissing someones feet is not permitted. Your showing as if whole of Bangladesh is kissing/licking someones feet.

Yes Repeated Comments seem odd too, Bangladesh has something hidden inside its pocket. Most probably they will ask for Tista water sharing treaty which is long due.

Even if Indian govt agrees, local WB govt will not give it away so easily.
There is no permanent soln to water disputes have share fairly based on each season. Given agriculture is mainstay between two both sides bickering is expected to continue. probably transition from agriculture to manufacturing and better water management might help.
