What's new

Bangladesh upholds life sentence for prominent JI member.

If he was a Razakaar and did all the alleged heinous crime then why he was repeatedly elected by people in his constituency. Does this mean, most people in his constituency also razakar and war criminal?

Its a good question and uncomfortable one...lets see if anyone answers.

BD institutional quality is low for this kind of kangaroo court infiltration of BAL. There is no truly independent bipartisan structure in BD in crucial areas it seems.

Judicial independence is very lacking in BD. Pakistan for example in contrast scores 4.27 and scores around 4 overall in legal system rating. India scores 5.03 specifically and around 5 overall.

For Integrity of the legal system, the difference is even higher:

BD: 3.33
PAK: 5.0
IND: 6.67

This is a major reason why Bangladesh is also stagnating (and very lowly ranked to begin with) in the corruption perception index.

FFs never supported JI.

Rather, Awami League, BNP & JP, used JI, for their selfish political gains, only to be elected to power.
Personally, I would have preferred an real International Tribunal, in Hague, to have been involved, instead of a local partisan one, for attaining Global credibility, not to serve domestic political agenda.

You kind of answered your own question. The ideal time to try JI for their crimes was right after Bangladesh achieved its independence, but like you mentioned, both political parties made electoral deals with JI to win elections. Even AL made deals with JI, so all these "war crime" trials are just a sham to destroy JI and lets AL consolidate its hold on power.

My question to Awami Cheerleader here. If he was a Razakaar and did all the alleged heinous crime then why he was repeatedly elected by people in his constituency. Does this mean, most people in his constituency also razakar and war criminal? Can these maggot answer my simple question. They can not because they are bunch of lier and characters less haywaan.

Please do not tag me. I do not engage with Awami supporter or activist.
He lost in 2009 election. And the reason he was elected: We have some people who doesn't like the fact that Bangladesh became an independent country. And Oder people here are polarized they are either pro India or pro Pakistan. Most importantly JI was coalition partner of AL and BNP in the past. So their votes went to him. Many people likes to.vote along their party lines regardless who the candidate is. That's why we had terrorists like Hazari, Pintu elected.

Don't forget to mention Joynal Hazari, Shamim Osman, the never ending list goes on and on, bands of Mafia Dons elected by Awami League

I second to that.Another thing which influenced people to vote him is his very popular waz-mahfil.Lakhs of people used to attend his massive jalsa.Even many religious Awami League supporter liked his waz.But certainly not him as a person. He used to do waz even among the overseas Bangladeshi community in Europe,America,Middle East. This sky high popularity as a wazi made him popular with the voter of his constituency no doubt.

Countering extreme ideology with another one is not a good idea. What we need is a secular, democratic and patriotic Bangladeshi ideology/narrative which will uphold our interest above all the partisan/foreign backer's interest.Time has come for Awami League to distance itself from India. They should take note of Indian attitude where India doesn't conduct it's relation with BD with 1971 friendship in mind.Unfortunately some top Awami league leader still see India through the 1971 prism.Which is not very wise.BNP also need to cut it's tendency of favoring Pakistan or Jamat.

As long as political parties tries to use JI to gain leverage and votes specially for Election purposes. Be patient for new surprises to be declared by Awami league during presentation of their election manifesto.
So you,re saying its all done to gain popularity among bagladeshi people to get votes?what an irony.

What's Pakistan going to do now?
Nothing!
They left their pet.

Is what we should do about every other guy, super power BD is punishing but I am happy with that, BD judiciary has been turned into a joke. If a sane person with basic knowledge of Judicial proceedings will witness these trials he will be rolling over the floor due to laughter.:omghaha::omghaha:

we don't desire any favour from BD.But the truth is mate,BD is going to be single party state and may be cult following like North Korea.

A capable dictatorship can do much better than an average democracy. Look at Singapore or South Korea

Do'nt insult them by comparing them with AL.
What's your problem with AL? It is Bangladesh's internal matter

Btw even Kim Jong Un is better than Nawaz, Zardari, Musharraf and co.
