Bangladesh tour of Pakistan in doubt

I feel all asian countries should play in Pakistan if the sport needs to improve including India provided their security is taken care but some of the posts here makes me feel otherwise.

Well, No offence intended, but don't you think Pakistan is becoming selfish here, i mean just to bring cricket to Pakistan, somewhere PCB is taking a very big risk. And they expect government will provide security, this current government will provide security and players will be safe, really?? really?? REALLY?. do you expect that no terrorism act would be attempted, if they did in past, they can do it now or in future as well. No offence intended!!!

this is the actual news

Bangladesh may tour Pakistan in 2012....!

Posted on Nov 17, 2011 at 08:40am IST

Bangladesh can tour Pakistan in April next year but they need security clearance from the game's governing body, a top official from Bangladesh Cricket Board told AFP on Wednesday. International cricket has been suspended in Pakistan since terrorists' attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in March 2009, which left eight people dead and seven visiting players and their assistant coach wounded.

Even before the attacks Pakistan had been a "no go" area for international teams who refused to tour the troubled country where the national army had been fighting militancy and a resurgency of Taliban activity. Sri Lanka turned down an invitation to tour Pakistan in May this year following attacks on a military base in Karachi, forcing their hosts to shift the series to a neutral venue in the United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf on Monday said he was doing his level best to bring international cricket back to Pakistan and has invited Bangladesh to tour the country. Mustafa Kamal, president of the BCB, told AFP his country can tour provided the International Cricket Council (ICC) clears security in Pakistan.

"I met Ashraf who is keen to bring cricket back to Pakistan and for that he has invited us also and we have an obligation to tour them but for that we need the ICC's clearance on security," Kamal said.

Under the ICC Future Tours Programme Bangladesh is due to tour Pakistan in April 2012. Kamal said he has also discussed the prospect of the tour with ICC officials.

"I am also discussing the issue with the ICC officials and since they have to send umpires and other officials for the series they are also reviewing the situation and we will also continue to discuss the matter with Pakistan."

ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat on Monday said Pakistan will be supported in their efforts to bring back international cricket to the country. Kamal said the negotiations will continue with Pakistani officials who are due to tour Bangladesh soon.

"Since the Pakistan team is also touring us we have invited their officials to come and discuss the matter further," Kamal said of the tour during which Pakistan play a Twenty20, three one-day and two Tests.

The tour starts with a Twenty20 on November 29. Kamal said he felt for Pakistani fans who have been deprived of international cricket.

"I started (career) from Pakistan," he said of the times when Bangladesh was part of Pakistan before gaining independence in 1971. "I know they are cricket loving people and at some point in time, someone has to tour them to give them international cricket."

Kamal said Bangladesh was also open to send Under-19 and 'A' teams to Pakistan. Bangladesh and Pakistan were also due to nominate a joint candidate for the ICC vice presidency and Kamal hoped a final name will come up in the next two weeks.

Actually there is no voting. It was to decide between Pak and BD. Last date of candidacy was december 31.... Pakistan didn't go for the post... And this news is from november.

it's obviously a disappointment simply because Pakistan side feels it is ready to bring back international cricket to the country...

if he doesnt want to send ''his boys'' to Pakistan based on what a few goras sitting God knows where (they probably would flinch and cry like school-girls at the sound of a paatakhay) talk about ''unfulfilled conditions'' or whatever -- then what can Pakistan do? What should it do?

we should just carry on with business and not even shed a tear.....Pakistan team is always ready for a match with whomever, wherever and however. No time to waste. Bangladesh sent its own security detail to discuss protocol and they themselves had expressed satisfaction.

but like i said -- offer a challenge and we'll always be happy to give one.

even though official heads never roll in Pakistan over blunders --you better be damned sure they would take security extremely seriously and have contingency plans.

2008 was a different era. We've endured and suffered a lot since then, but we've also become smarter and more alert than ever for most security-related challenges

the whole world would be watching and Pakistan knows this.....

the Palestinian football team came to play a friendly (and they won actually) and no untoward incidents happened. I have my views over the culprits and objective of those who sunk low to attack Sri Lankan team. I wont delve into that here since my views on it are already public.

i dont think Pakistan is being selfish. Is Ireland selfish for promoting tourism in its country, despite all the tragedies and fighting that took place there and despite some ongoing political turmoil? Is Bahrain being selfish for re-securing its rights to host Formula-One?

i still think latest comment from kamal was only a political remark to tame media... No need to be angry on BD team. Maybe not April, but they will be first to tour Pak......

@Abu Julfiqar

You cannot blame anyone for not coming to Pakistan to play cricket at this point after what happened to the SL team. You may think as a Pakistani that the situation has improved since then and I am sure it has but from the outside with all the negative publicity that Pakistan gets it doesn't seem so. People love their lives more than anything and nobody wants to take chances with it, I wouldn't.

Dude I don't think one unfortunate incident in past (scary ones but no life got seriously injured or killed) should shut the door of international cricket in Pakistan forever. We remember that some Bangladeshi fans also thrown stones at west indines bus and there are examples of misbehaviour of Indian crowds as well

would you suggest the same for those tourists who visited india after Bombay blast and killing in taj hotel? Should they never go to India because there were some incidents of terrorism in india in past?

that's up to them what they decide.....did you read my post?

as for blame -- well i'm not sure if i'd call it ''blame'' per se.. more like ''mockery'' and ''ridicule'' i think.

LOL @ ''Julfiqar''

I never said that it shut the door forever, but for an outsider Pakistan is still under the chaos of WOT, you need to have a prolonged period of relative peace to convince teams from outside to travel and play in Pakistan and let's not compare it with the situation in India or elsewhere, the scale of terrorism is simply incomparable but for the record after Mumbai England did get their venue changed from Mumbai to Chennai and Australia didn't play in Sri Lanka in 1996 WC, but they are happy to play there now, so things do change, you need to be patient.

ohhhh so bangladesh itself is safe like USA no sir they are as viloanted country as wer are time has come to let them know where they stand ban all cricket with them becoz they betray us and top if it all they had commitment with us they broke it let see how many times india will support them once we stop giving them attention india will loose any attention to them and they will come kneeling downon pcb
