Bangladesh to restore all pre-1965 land routes with India, says Sheikh Hasina

Not really, if you're going to twist my words then you may want to try harder. Nepal and BD are two different situations, which is hard to compare.

You don't even know what a catch-22 is.

You stated that the opposition parties in Bangla want lovely relations with Pakistan. I stated the same for the Nepali opposition. I have already laid the framework for my argument. Whether or not it builds into a catch-22 depends on how you wish to build the rest of your case. I concede that you may yet wriggle out of it without creating mutually conflicting conditions. You are welcome to try. I am sure I will beat you to it.

Strategic national decisions should not be taken without consultation and agreement of the opposition. Such things are beyond party politics and it is always best to take everyone along.

If BAL commanded 40% they would not have had to act out last farcical election process. They are in power by force and by subverting the democratic process and asparation of the people. In an fair and open election I doubt they would poll 10% now. The av person want stability and economic growth... Just because ppl have not revolted does not mean people are happy with BAL. they remain in power due to combination of reasons, ineffectual opposition, hapless media, cowed judiciary, a level of economic competency, Indian interference and subvertion of the military and intelligence operations from national agencies to BAL power apparatus.

When the house of cards fall due to weight of hipocracy, nepotism and anti-democratic goals it will be even more spectacular than before.

Your argument is based on a derived version of the Turkish AKP formula - create the conditions wherein a security crisis arises, and then justify one's election based on the resultant situation. Yes, Bangladesh is facing some issues right now, but it would be harsh to say that the government is at fault. One should look at who creates the mayhem. The culprit should not be allowed to benefit from one's own misdeeds.

Bangladesh shares border with India from three sides. Its important to have good relation with main and perhaps only neighbor India. Its India which doesn't have any affinity for Bangladesh since its Muslim country. Unfortunately our country map is almost eaten by Indian map hence its difficult for us to ignore India but we need good relations with both India and China. Since Pakistan is far away from Bangladesh good relation with your country doesn't mean anything to Bangladesh.

Agreed. Pakistan's relations with bangladesh are meaningless and of no consequence. Pakistan shares a border with the Middle East and our relations with them and China are what matters. Pakistan is 1000s of kms away from bangladesh. We are racially, culturally, genetically and socially completely different from bangladesh.

The father of the bitch actually was uniting Bangladesh with India when the patriotic general Zia dispatched Mujib-ur- Rehman to hell.

All you did was provide piss poor arguments, and are trying to set up your future comment by already labeling mine as "wriggling out of it". Again, you don't seem to get what a catch 22 is, why do you insist on calling it that?

As for your examples, again, not the samething, the situations are different. Where as BD is pretty much controlled by India, Nepal? Not so much. While Nepal's opposition DOES want good relations with India, it is not at the cost of it's sovereignty.

Your arguments are poor.

That is the problem where Pakistan fails to reach the public opinion of BD...Just to let you know, the public of BD is not as the way it is represented in PDF...If Mrs Hasina would not have support, why the hail they do not come to the streets and out protests...BD has the histroy of protests where people come to streets where they do not like the GOv???...
They did, protest leaders were arrested, along with opposition party members. Hasina has been accused to authoritarianism for her policies. She went ahead with a farce of an election that no one supported. Currently, Hasina is going ahead with executing opposition party leaders, in the guise of justice (which internationally has been called a farce as well), just to boost her own popularity, and decrease opposition influence.

Of course India feels happy if Mrs Hasina is in power, it is the same way India feels happy when any democratic institution comes to power in Pakistan than Army. That does not mean India support and finances political parties in Pakistan...In this kind of assumption, you are really undermining the importance of public sentiment of BD..
There are allegations that India supports MQM in Pakistan, while no evidence has been seen, even British agencies are suspicious of this link. It has gotten so bad, MQM chief admitted that some of it's members actually DID go to India to receive training, though MQM claims that it expelled the members and told the army (which the army denies).

You're completely wrong if you think India is completely or even mostly benevolent in it's intent, it's not. India, like any rising power, only cares about increasing it's influence and power, it doesn't care if it's allies are dictators or democrats.

I'm undermining nothing, public sentiment matters little, when you're completely surrounded by a larger nation from all sides, except south. Do not underestimate the lengths that India will go to, in order to achieve it's ambitions. India isn't special, every rising power has skeletons in it's closet.

The father of the bitch actually was uniting Bangladesh with India when the patriotic general Zia dispatched Mujib-ur- Rehman to hell.

So Zia killed Mujib. Hmm.. its partly true. He wasn't directly involved in killing but a killer said Zia gave go ahead to his team members to kill Mujib and his whole family.

Mujib actually wanted a federation of sort between India and Bangladesh, not uniting these two countries but his opponents accuse him for turning Bangladesh a satellite state of India hence Zia gave permission to kill Mujib.

Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and aftermath

Mujib's death plunged the nation into many years of political turmoil. The coup leaders were soon overthrown and a series of counter-coups and political assassinations paralysed the country.[5] Order was largely restored after a coup in 1977 gave control to the army chief Ziaur Rahman. Declaring himself President in 1978, Ziaur Rahman signed the Indemnity Ordinance, giving immunity from prosecution to the men who plotted[10] Mujib's assassination and overthrow.

Why Bangladesh dont become another state of India if your leaders and public love to be dictated by India? Embrace Hindu culture and Indian nationality to make your life more easy :D

Exactly my thoughts:
  1. India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Indo-China like an EU region.
    indochina.jpg
  2. Increase trade and economic co-operation. Set-up special EZs along the entire way and have a FTA agreement with all countries. Vietnam and Thailand have an excellent electronic manufacturing base that can be used to propel the entire region into a manufacturing hub.
  3. Tourism routes extending from one end to another via highways and waterways much like the
India-Myanmar-Thailand Highway. Only, this time multiple routes and all the way to Ho-Chi Minh City.
    Myanmar_20150901.jpg
  4. Special Permits for the citizens of the region like EU permit cards.
  5. Joint military operations against piracy, military exercises, bases etc
  6. An optional educational board that can be taught throughout the region, University exchange programmes etc
  7. Finally, to top it all, some of the finer things like a governing administrative body regarding policies for the region.
Akhand baharat ?

Why dont you ask what Burmese members like @Aung Zaya and @alaungphaya think about greater connectivity with India and Burma as the link for India to ASEAN before you start spouting such nonsense?
What non sense? he said that India have great importance for us because we are surrounded by India and I said why got the freedom at first place if cannot have independent thinking and policies.. If Bangladesh become another state of India then they would not have to worry about shooting of BSF while crossing the border :)

They are different enough to want to keep their sovereignty. Both countries are still developing, so integration and links will be formed on a zero base + selective inclusion format rather than 100% base + selective restriction format.

Thats how ECSC was first established, then evolved to EEC and finally EU. It is a long term transition with every country benefiting as equal partners....while keeping their sovereignty, whatever definition of it they want.

BBIN + ASEAN will keep moving forward. It has nothing to do with Akhand Bharat.

.
The fact that India heavily interfered and influenced the last elections, and the fact that it is behind the recent purge in opposition parties in BD that want decent relations with both Pakistan and especially China, that's enough for me to believe what I believe.

Your attempt to insult me is are both weak and pathetic.

Anyone who believes that India's intentions are purely benevolent is fooling themselves. India wants domination in the region, not harmony.

When elections go in India's favor then people say that India influenced the results with their money. But what about BNP ruled your country twice and you guys had military for short while.

Good luck to this dream. Many Bangladeshi's lives will be saved if you first open this visa free entry for them. My comment of akhand bharat was referred to comment of Praveen Togadia that the Indian flag or Tiranga will fly in Knadhar, Lahore and Dhaka . I am not sure about Kandhar or lahore but there will no trouble doing this in Dhaka and well hasina will do it happily :)

It will not be visa free entry till certain development/wealth standards are met on BOTH sides.

My comment of akhand bharat was referred to comment of Praveen Togadia that the Indian flag or Tiranga will fly in Knadhar, Lahore and Dhaka .

There are those from Pakistan side who have said the same about Qaumi Parcam to fly at Red Fort one day.

Must we go in this direction?

I am not sure about Kandhar or lahore but there will no trouble doing this in Dhaka and well hasina will do it happily

Obviously you cannot understand how and why Bangladesh will be friendly with India, yet retain its sovereignty and its flag.

2 nation theory to your types dictates Muslims and Hindus must be in permanent emnity so it is a confusing concept that Bangladeshis are mostly well wishers for India and vice versa and that we want to solve all our differences honestly (like LBA recently was and Teesta soon will be) and move together for regional development.

Your type is also befuddled when Iran especially and GCC countries more generally maintain good relations with India, trade and invest magnitudes more with India and seek to always expand this cooperation.....even though India is a majority Hindu nation and a good friend of Israel.

Maybe one day you will realise why all this is true and will remain so, especially with the chasm widening between India and Pakistan.

But in the meantime you can throw around words like Akhand Bharat in a desperate effort to scare others.....but silently and angrily you will see just how different the reality is and how it evolves even further away from your dream with time.
