G 36 isn't being considered. That rifle was rejected a zillionth year ago

The top contenders are Type 56 II, MPT 76, Beretta ARX & a HK variant. Turkey & China is the top runner at the moment.

From what I get Type 56 II might be the choice but I am not sure about that.

Are you referring to Beretta ARX160, if so don't bother, it's not even being considered.

This is my bet too, following is purely speculative but I don’t see type 56 to replace its cousin bd08 for standard issue.
Although I’ve also heard about ARX 200, I can’t confirm it’s validity.

I also don’t see a semi automatic rifle being standard issue (arx100)

That's absolutely no brainer for me too. First time someone told me that I was like "why will you replace a rife with that same rifle, duh? "

And by the way, this new rifle will replace old Type 56 assault rifles. BD -08 falls under a different terminology, since it replaced the SKS in standard issue. It's here to stay for another 15-20 years & they are yet to replace all the old SKS in BGB issue.

Don't bet too fast!
Remember SKS was semi automatic too & infantry loved them.
BD-08 is full automatic & troops are complaining it overheats in full automatic
