Sultana Kamal, a prominent human rights activist, today said what is being done to actress Pori Moni is a clear violation of human rights.

She made the remark after virtually attending a citizens' rally held in front of National Museum at the capital's Shahbag organised to seek justice for Pori Moni this afternoon under the banner of 'Outraged Citizens'.

Sultana Kamal said, "The bail application of Pori Moni was not being heard in a fair manner. Her lawyer was not allowed to apply for bail or talk to his client. This is a clear violation of human rights."

"Misogyny has entered every nook and cranny of the society," she added.

Human rights activist Khushi Kabir said, "A citizen of the country cannot be treated like the way Pori Moni has been or arrested in the manner she was."

She demanded immediate release of the actress.

The protest programme was attended by activists, including producers, artists, teachers, publishers and writers.

I don't know what happened but I can tell you this, these showbiz people are dirty.. Pori Moni is most definitely involved in some dark schemes.. Now as to why this is all coming up now,.. She probably pissed someone powerful off, so they're burying her.

Exactly - there are stories floating about (very credible) that she and the other showbiz women (mou etc.) had recorded videos of some powerful people in very compromising positions (toys, hand cuffs, mink whip etc.) and used these to blackmail them (raise money). Pori Moni also vandalized the boat club when she went there with her cohorts, this is all on video. It is also alleged that she and some of her friends were working on behalf of a large foreign clandestine spy organization.

She made her own bed, now she has to lie down in it.

Ugly Indian agent dot-head aunties from "Sushil Samaj" (civil society) screaming about it notwithstanding. I guess extra large press-on dots are hard to find nowadays...size has gone down a couple notches.

She is a left winger feminist and wishes she was born in Kolkata as a Hindu. I would not be surprised if she ever offered one rakaat of namaaj in her life, however that is not for me to judge.

A section of people exist like in Bangladesh, Muslim in name only (MINO). Jamaat and Hefazaat have targeted these people in the past, however they are mostly left alone. People in Bangladesh are a far more tolerant bunch than that of our neighbor to the West.

She's been a bad, bad girl. Slap her wrist for me.

She converted a part of her condo into a Sadist masochist love chamber and recorded the "guest-proceedings" secretly. Some powerful people are now caught in that blackmail scheme. Results for her will not be good - cries by friends about "misogyny" notwithstanding.
