How abt granting BD statehood in the Indian union ?
I am mildly amused by how some Bangadeshis used the word hegemony.
So, how does that work ? Anything that is not in your favour is hegemony ?
1. BSF takes action against illegal immigrants = Indian hegemony
And BSF does a poor job with that, otherwise all of our cities won't be filled with Bangladeshi illegal immigrants.
2. Buying electricity from India = Indian hegemony
If your country had the capability to meet immediate necessities then you would not have needed that in the first place. India provides you electricity so that you can run your AC, turn on the light use your computer to access internet and talk foul about India. I call it ungrateful behaviour on your part.
3. Roadways/Railways development in Bangladesh = Indian hegemony
So, you want India to develop road for you and not expect anything in return ? What's wrong if we provide money to develop road networks through Bangladesh and expect transit through the same road ? Is India stopping Bangladeshis to use the same road ? How do you exactly identify yourself ? Beggars ? Or you want to be treated as equals ?
4. Teesta water issue - Indian hegemony
The onus is as much upon Bangladesh as it is upon India. What do you think, we will leave our state dry to feed you ? There has to be a balance. Again, you should be grateful that we identify and recognize your problem and willing to negotiate with you on that, while the last Bangladeshi govt. was harbouring terrorists and enemies of the state against India. Khaleda Zia in fact went on to saying that she supports "Independence movement of the seven sisters". And you expect us to play nice to the same govt. after such comments ? In fact you people should consider yourself fortunate that the water was not entirely stopped after such comments. Such comments can jeopardize negotiations for decades.
In this World, nothing comes without retribution. You stand accountable for your actions. You can't just scheme against others and expect that person to play fair with you. It takes two to tango.
The current Bangladeshi govt. is willing to do something for the sake of greater good. Hence the recent developments.
