Dhaka, Apr 16 (bdnews24.com) – Pro-BNP and Pro-Jamaat-e-Islami lawyers have demanded a provision for a regular appeal in the war crimes trial.

Otherwise, they suggested, the law would not ensure justice to those accused, at a seminar in Dhaka on Friday.

However, according to Section 21 of the Amendment to the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act, a party has the right to appeal to the Appellate Division against a sentence, conviction or acquittal within 60 days of the ruling.

If BD wants to investigate war crimes in full transparecy then the events need to be traced back to pre-serpration era as well India's role. We are talking about war time violation. No pre or post war politics. We dont have any problem with anybody who supported Pakistan in 1971 but we are putting those on trial who killed unarmed civilians.

When was the last time in PAK era Bengalis asked for a referrendum for a separate Bangladesh? Wasn't it us, the Bengalis willingly voted for joining in PAK federation in 1946? 'Appealing in international tribunal court' itself is a deceptive term here as there isn't any international defendents, who would be tried except Deshi Jamaaties plus a few righteous alikes. On a samilar note, a kangroo court could be masketerred/colored as international in 'Victor's justice'(Victor's justice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) but denial of its justice is actually saving real justice and indeed quiet contrary of your expectation, Cheers
