Bangladesh replace Pakistan for tri-nation tournament

DHAKA: Bangladesh will replace Pakistan in the tri-nation tournament which will be held in March 2018, SAMAA reported.
The tri-nation series will be held in March 2018 to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 70th Independence Day. It has been named Nidhas Trophy. The tournament will be held from March 15th, 2018 to March 31st, 2018. The teams will face each other twice and the top two teams will play the final.
Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka had played the tournament to celebrate the island-nation’s 50th Independence Day.
President of Sri Lanka Cricket Thilanga Sumathipala said, “We celebrate the 70th year of our independence next year and SLC also completes 70 years in 2018.”
He added, “We are happy that both BCCI and BCB have confirmed their participation for the tri-nation series.”
The Sri Lanka cricket board president also said that they want to invite the Indian and Bangladesh prime ministers for the finals of the tournament. – Samaa
