Awami League completely politicized Bangladesh police and law enforcement agencies. Recent events and news brought proofs that police administration and law enforcement instead of protecting people used as Awami League political and looting tool.

Report published in last few days revealed that 37 of Assistant director post of National Security Intelligence (NSI) was filled by ex Awami League student wing cadre, which is killing and looting people every day.

Out of 28,000 recruitment in police force since Awami League came to power, 17,000 of these policeman are Awami League cadre and from Sheikh Hasina and Awami League general secretary home district (Gopalganj and Kishorganj). All officers in charge and top level police officers are appointed and promoted are ex Awami League cadre. It is important to note that there is official rule district wise quota for appointment in govt jobs and Awami League regime completely violated that rule and appointed party cadre in law enforcement.

In one incident, President has awarded police officer for beating opposition MP and whip of parliament. While Awami League home minister boasted giving accused officer award, Awami League PM handed over the award by herself. This same accused officer was standing by while Bishawjit Das was chopped to death by Awami League student wing cadre.

Another police recruited from PM home district Gopalganj threatened wife of old freedom fighter saying he is from “Gopalganj and nothing will happen he kills her” pointing gun in her stomach. That goes to show Awami League kills and will kill freedom fighter at will but use deception to accuse others as anti independence. Same way Awami League killed 40000 freedom fighters from JSD and left after independence.

ছাত্রশিবিরের নেতাকর্মী দেখামাত্র গুলি করতে বলেছেন ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশ (ডিএমপ&#2495 কমিশনার বেনজির আহমেদ। গতকাল দুপুরে পুলিশের মহাপরিদর্শক (আইজিপ&#2495 হাসান মাহমুদ খন্দকারের সামনে তিনি এ নির্দেশ দেন।
শিবিরের হামলায় আহত পুলিশ সদস্যদের দেখতে রাজারবাগ পুলিশ হাসপাতালে যান পুলিশের আইজি হাসান মাহমুদ খন্দকার। তার সঙ্গে ছিলেন ডিএমপি কমিশনার বেনজির আহমেদ। তিনি হাসপাতালের তিন নম্বর ওয়ার্ডে চিকিত্সাধীন কনস্টেবল মোকলেছুর রহমানের খোঁজ-খবর নেয়ার সময় তাকে উদ্দেশ করে বলেন, ‘অস্ত্র ছিল না, গুলি করতে পারনি? এখন থেকে শিবির দেখামাত্র গুলি করবা।’ এরপর চার নম্বর ওয়ার্ডে চিকিত্সাধীন পায়ে আঘাত পাওয়া কনস্টেবল জিয়াউরকে উদ্দেশে করে ডিএমপি কমিশনার বলেন, ‘পায়ের আঘাত সুস্থ হয়ে ওদের পা ভেঙে দিবা।’
হাসপাতালে আহত পুলিশ সদস্যদের দেখতে গিয়ে পুলিশের আইজি হাসান মাহামুদ খন্দকার বলেন, পুলিশের পর্যাপ্ত প্রস্তুতির কারণে শিবির কর্মীরা তাদের বেশি ক্ষতিসাধন করতে পারেনি। হামলা চালিয়ে যে নাশকতা চালানো হয়েছে, তা ফৌজদারি অপরাধ। দেশের প্রচলিত আইন অনুযায়ী, তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হবে।
হাসান মাহমুদ খন্দকার বলেন, একটি মহল দেশে জ্বালাও পোড়াও করে অস্থিতিশীল পরিবেশ সৃষ্টি করতে চায়। আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী তাদের কঠোরভাবে দমন করবে। তিনি বলেন, জামায়াত-শিবিরের নেতাকর্মীরা বিনা উস্কানিতে পুলিশের ওপর হামলা চালাচ্ছে। পুলিশ ধৈর্য ধারণ করেছে। এবার হামলা হলে পুলিশ সদস্যরা প্রতিরোধ করবে বলে তিনি হুশিয়ারি উচ্চারণ করেন। আইজি বলেন, আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনালে যুদ্ধাপরাধের বিচারকাজ চলছে। তাই পুলিশসহ আইন-শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনী তাদের হামলার লক্ষ্য। এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন কেন্দ্রীয় পুলিশ হাসপাতালের পরিচালক আবু মুসা মোহম্মাদ ফকরুল ইসলাম, ডিএমপি’র মতিঝিল জোনের ডিসি আনোয়ার হোসেন, রমনা জোনের ডিসি সৈয়দ নুরুল ইসলাম।

‘আমার বাড়ি গোপালগঞ্জ, তোকে মেরে ফেললেও কিছু হবে না’

ঢাকা: রাজধানীর বনানী থানার উপপরিদর্শক (এসআ&#2439 জুলফিকারের বিরুদ্ধে এক মুক্তিযোদ্ধার স্ত্রীকে লাঞ্ছিত করার অভিযোগ পাওয়া গেছে। ওই নারী দাবি করেন, নির্যাতনের সময় জুলফিকার তাকে উদ্দেশ্ করে বলেছেন, ‘আমার বাড়ি গোপালগঞ্জ। তোর মতো একজনকে মেরে ফেললেও আমার কিচ্ছু হবে না।’

প্রয়াত মুক্তিযোদ্ধা দুলাল দেওয়ানের স্ত্রী শিল্পী দেওয়ান জানান, ১৫ বছর ধরে তার মা-বাবা মহাখালীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ছাউনিতে বসবাস করছেন। তারা সিআইডি সদস্য নুরুল ইসলামকে প্রতি মাসে চার হাজার টাকা দিয়ে আসছেন সমিতির চাঁদা হিসেবে। শিল্পী দেওয়ান তার মা-বাবার বাসার পাশে একটি ভাড়াবাসায় থাকেন বলে জানান।

শিল্পী দেওয়ান জানান, শনিবার রাতে তিনি মা-বাবাকে দেখতে যান। এ সময় বনানী থানার এসআই জুলফিকার, সিআইডি পুলিশের সদস্য নুরুল ইসলামসহ ২৫-৩০জন লোক তাদের বাসায় আসেন। তারা তাদের বাসা ছেড়ে দিতে বলেন। বাসা ছাড়তে অস্বীকার করলে পুলিশ তার বাবাকে মারধর করতে থাকে এবং অন্য লোকজন বাসার আসবাবপত্র ভাঙচুর ও লুটপাট করে।

শিল্পী দেওয়ান জানান, তিনি এ ঘটনার প্রতিবাদ করলে এসআই জুলফিকার তার পেটে অস্ত্র ঠেকিয়ে বলেন, ‘আকাশের যত তারা, পুলিশের তত ধারা। আমার বাড়ি গোপালগঞ্জ। তোর মতো একজনকে মেরে ফেললেও আমার কিচ্ছু হবে না।’

শিল্পী দেওয়ান দাবি করেন, পুলিশ তাকে শারীরিকভাবে লাঞ্ছিত করে। পুলিশের মারের চোটে তার পরনের কাপড় ছিড়ে যায়।

এ ব্যাপারে বনানী থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওস&#2495 মাহবুব বলেন, “মহাখালী মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ছাউনির একটি জিডির তদন্তের দায়িত্ব এসআই জুলফিকারকে দেয়া হয়েছে। তদন্তে গেলে অনেক কিছুই হয়। হয়তো তর্কাতর্কি হতে পারে।’ ওসি জানান, এ ধরনের একটা আভিযোগ তিনি পেয়েছেন। আগামী শুক্রবার এ ব্যাপারে সালিস ডাকা হয়েছে।

ওসি (তদন্&#2468 কাজী মাইনুল হোসেন এ ধরনের কোনো ঘটনা ঘটেনি দাবি করে বলেন, ‘জুলফিকার সাহেব সিআইডি নুরুল ইসলামের একটি জিডির তদন্ত করতে গিয়েছিলেন। সেখানে একটু ভুল-বোঝাবুঝি হয়েছে। শুক্রবার এ ব্যাপারটি মীমাংসার জন্য উভয় পক্ষকে ডাকা হয়েছে।”

Police medal given to DC Harun who beat up BNP MP

Deputy Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Harun-or-Rashid has been awarded President's Police Medal (PPM) for what the citation said his gallantry in preventing anarchy and enforcing discipline on the city streets.The award has been handed over to him by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a group of 67 officers whose contributions were acknowledged by the government in handling the law and order situation.

Home Minister MK Alamgir said after the handing over of the medal that the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police Harun-ur-Rashid was given 'President Police Medal (PPM)' award for his performance in preventing anarchy on the streets by beating up opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque.The remarks have already sparked reaction from the BNP leaders who have urged the government not to disgrace police by giving medal to errant police man.

The home minister praised Harun-or-Rashid while talking to journalists at capital's Rajarbagh Telecom Babhan following a meeting with the top officials of police on Tuesday.He said, "Police were directed to prevent rally on the streets as the opposition leaders carried out anarchy in the name of agitation."On July 6 in 2011, a team of police led by DC Harun-ur-Rashid attacked Zainul Abdin Farroque in front of Jatiya Sangsad, leaving him critically injured.

A group of opposition leaders brought out procession during 48-hour shutdown sponsored by the opposition BNP. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over President Police Medal (PPM) to Harun on Tuesday morning for his bravery and heroic contributions in carrying out duty.


Home Ministry boss said Harun was given the award for his contribution in maintaining law -and-order in 2011 and 2012.
DC Harun was posted in Tejgaon Zone while he beat up opposition chief whip but now he is working at Lalbagh Zone under Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Earlier news reports said he had held a meting with leaders of Chatra League of the Jaganath University on the night before December 9 countrywide shut down called by opposition BNP. He reportedly asked them to stay in the streets and hold their control over the situation driving the opposition activists from the streets.In the next morning, the buoyant Chatra League leaders lynched and chopped to death Biswajit Das mistakenly taking him as a BNP activists.

UNB adds: Criticising the government for awarding President Police Medal to ADC Harun, opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Farroque on Tuesday said awarding the presidential medal to a partisan policeman may create commotion in the police. "We urge the government not to disgrace the police force by giving the medal to a partisan policeman," he said at a rally.

Trinamul Forum, a pro-BNP platform, organised the programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club demanding withdrawal of 'false' cases filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman and the unconditional release of BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. On July 6, 2011, Zainul Abdin Farroque suffered head injuries in police baton charge near Sangsad Bhaban during a 48-hour nonstop hartal of BNP and its allies.

According to media report, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Harun charged baton on Farroque. Farroque said, "If the government fails to reinstate the caretaker government system, it'll have to shoulder the responsibility for any consequences." Chaired by Forum president Monirul Islam Shikdar, the programme was also addressed by former MP Helen Zarin Khan.
