Bangladesh November exports hit all-time high, crossing $5b mark

Unlikely BD export to grow if the main market is Western countries, although there is possibility it to happen if BD textile is among the cheaper ones and Western people switch their consumption from expensive textile product into cheaper one. As person who live in USA maybe you know this more than us who live in developing countries

Vietnam industry has been in contraction last month and also another export oriented country like Singapore

This is exactly what happened during covid. BD exports grew because western middle class switched to cheaper brands.

Only unhinged idiots doubt export and import numbers.

But at the same time they claim BAL has stolen 100 billion 🤣🤣🤣

If the economy hasn’t been motoring along where did the 100 billion come from?

But I trust European kitchenhands more on this topic. Why do you not care about my feelings? :undecided:

Only European kitchen hands are in Italy and they speak in Dhakaya dialect 🤣🤣 Most of them live on the streets and are abused by Italians 🤣🤣🤣

As the London economist reported, last week, Sylhetis have overtaken white Brits. Jews and Indians are now in our sights 🤣🤣🤣

I will post Vietnam data here (they only finish calculating trade data for first half of November). See crude oil export, actually Vietnam has good production of oil as well

Export:

When compared with the second half of October-2022, export of first half of November decreased by 16.7%, mostly as a result of the downturn registered in computers, electrical products (down by 41.2% - USD 1.17 billion equally); machine, tools & equipments (down by 14.3% - USD 296 millions); telephone, mobile phones and part thereof (down by 10.9% - USD 290 millions); crude oil (down by 49.2% - USD 115 million).

Vietnam will take a big hit as western middle class cut down on big ticket items for next two years.

Well those who like expensive clothes in USA - typically will not downgrade to lower quality cheaper clothes, they will only buy less of them.

The other factor is of course retailer discounts, if retailers in various price gradations and brackets cut prices and order more, that means Bangladesh will produce more clothes but margin will be a lot less. Which is fine, you just make that up with volume order fulfillment. But things are yet to gel as far as recession in Western countries. We shall see.

Bangladesh has a lot better ability to work with lesser margins, than say higher priced labor in Vietnam or other countries.

Bangladesh apparel industry people historically specialized in lower cost and lower margin/high volume items, which is relatively immune to inflationary price pressures.

But I trust European kitchenhands more on this topic. Why do you not care about my feelings? :undecided:

I care.

I have not read the news yet to the end. The report made me happy, but you are complaining about fake export data.

Please say more about details. This witch Hasina is a Devil of a woman, and the way she orders her subordinates/ BBS to fake data to become famous.

This woman must be defeated in the next fair election.

Pre-Election propaganda @bluesky bhai.

Equation is pretty simple - they show more great 'achievements', more insurance they may get votes in the next election, and more insurance to present to govts. in EU and US what a legit outfit AL is. Despite "goom khoon" and despite looting.

Problem is , BGMEA, BKMEA and Chamber businesspeople do NOT agree. They have no stake in this "glorifying Hasina" game.

.
Export-import data can be fudged?
Who can stop from fudging when that evil woman named Hasina wants to do so?

All fundamental economic data are falsified in Bangladesh. It is done to look good in the country and abroad. Go to the market to see how the prices of essentials have risen, yet the govt says the inflation is only 6% or so.

Do your Sylheti plane passengers still ask for PIKDANI to spit? Or, you have stopped it to become a little more civilized like other Bengalis?

Some bad people say smelly Sylhetis threaten the plane staff with spitting inside the plane unless PIKDANIs are supplied.

Is it true? How Hiculiar and how Hathetic it is!

Sylhetis of all social strata fly whereas only the half educated Dhakayas do the same. So, it’s not a fair comparison!

But the lower class tend to fly Biman. Middle and upper class Sylhetis avoid Biman like a plague. So, no, I have not seen that behaviour personally but I do not doubt it still happens.

.
BD at this stage of its economic development is almost immune to export demand as it still mainly exports “essentials”.

Even its electronics industry may benefit as consumers look to cheaper BD goods over the more expensive S Korean and Japanese brands.

I am particularly interested to see the battle between China and BD in the home electronics market this decade in overseas markets.

7%+ growth for this fiscal may still be possible.

Simple as I champion the BD-India economic relationship that he is against.

Was ok before but lately he is letting his emotions get the better of him. :disagree:

BD has no choice but to carry on and deepen its economic engagement with India. Both India and BD now realise that they can only prosper together with mutually beneficial trade.

India is likely to grow 6% this year on the back of a 400 million "middle-class" consumer market and this is how BD is able to increase exports by 50-60% each year and we are likely to see in excess of 3 billion US dollars of BD exports to India this fiscal. By 2030, India may be largest export market of BD with USA a close second.

BD companies such as Walton will have one of the largest consumer markets in the world to push their electronics such as TVs and fridges once the FTA is signed between Hasina and Modi. There is a population as large as the US that can now afford the goods that Walton wants to sell and this will only increase due to the relatively fast growth of the Indian economy.

Unfortunately we have too many emotional posters like him in BD who do not realise that you do not choose your neighbours and so BD must work with India if it is to reach it's full potential as the first developed economy in S Asia by mid-century.

South Asians are a very emotional people.

Hindus and Pakistanis fighting on the streets of Britain with swords - is proof of that.

Sylhetis are different I think….we tend to stay out of trouble 🤣🤣🤣

Even in Bangladesh our political and military leaders are not divisive 🤣🦜🤣🤣🤣

Osmany, Saifur, Muhith, Kibria et al have cross party support

Luckly in BD we have plenty of hard-headed people who think rationally and that is why Bengal 300 years ago was maybe the richest and one of the most technologically advanced regions of the world.

I hope to live to see the day that BD is once again a developed country and society.
