We understand that India has no designs to attack Bangladesh in the near future(0-10 years time).

The same cannot be said into the long-term(decades into the future) and so BD needs to prepare to be able to deter India by letting the Indians know that there will be a heavy price to pay for any Indian military attack.

Burma over the long-term will become an insignificant threat as BD has a GDP 3 times as large(similar GDP growth rates for both countries) and hence it's military will not be able to match BD over time.

It's always not good to under estimate someone.

Why on earth we want to add another 150 million people to our population? If we had the plans to invade BD we would have done it long ago.



You are underestimating Burma. It was once called 'Rice Bowl of Asia' and it will rise again once the military junta hand over power to civilians. Also by any means Myanmar military is much more battle hardened than BD bcs of the various insurgencies that they are fighting in their country.

You see BD Govt before all these mess was very interested to acquire farmlands in Burma. Now we are moving to some African countries......If relations improve between us all, south asia will be a power house to recon with.

I don't think it's military junta will that easily hand over power to civil Govt. Their condition will be more like --several axis of power. Top military brass will have the ultimate say so, some politicians to get loans and funds, then the armed insurgency all over Myanmar, finally will come the justice division (if it ever gets to operate independently). They are backstabbers, we don't trust them.
Fighting insurgencies and fighting against professional military is different story. Our military takes part in lot of exercises and training program all the time - and also in multinational level.
Our police forces are trained to fight against these insuirgence ....so ur meaning to say that their milli is so low quality!!!

Would love to see that in BD colors. But with dada India around the corner, i see it as a distant possibility!

No bro, Russia not going to pay hid to Indian concern. If they did, then they would not had sold those systems to China. I still remember, we tried to convince Russian president that they will keep us involved in any nuclear deal in sub continent specially in Bangladesh. But alas!! Russia is going alone in Bangladesh and they did not even have any decency to even let us know, what is going on there. They even trying to earn business from Pakistan.
