What's new

Bangladesh may acquire 10 Russian Yak-130s

Why would you want to target Kolkata ? Indians would welcome and strong and stable BD but few guys like you go on trolling mode due to your insecurity . Grow up mate

no mate, your missiles can reach dhaka, its natural we have some sort of deterrence, its simply a defensive measure nothing else, same reason israelis and americans dont attack iran because israel has missiles that can reach tel aviv. as much as i like india, i dont trust them, its for security, you should understand.

WTF

Ugandan Air Force has ordered 6 Su-30MK2,[31] and received two on 8 July 2011.[32] The aircraft order cost is estimated at $740 million (Shs1.8 trillion).[

is it that expensive??

Well yeah, its very expensive nowdays to buy su 30. Furthermore as skull and bones mentioned, its very expensive to maintain. Best we be getting single engined ones like gripen or f16s. Gripen is the better choice though ;)

.
Well Awami League won't be in power in the next session, as far I know talking to bangladeshis. if BNP comes, I hope we get J-20.

Nobody is gonna get the j 20 for a long time. Most of the countries are making 5th gen jets for themselves, they are unwilling to sell to anybody else

.
J 20 :lol: BD should send rocket to Mars too.. I think when BNP comes to power you will be able to achieve that too..

Agreed. Gripen should be the first choice for BAF, unless ,of course, if there are no complications in procuring them.

However, I think BAF might end up getting some of the newer variants of Mig,as we already have been using the platform for 10 years now. Although, Sukhois are deadly; buying them won't be a rational decision for BD.

What does that actually mean??

it was a joke man, bangladesh is getting some f 7.

.
1. Plz work on your geography.

2. Deterrence against what ? Missile strike from India ? :lol:
If we start raining brahmos on dhaka your people wont find place to run to.. remember BSF will stand their guard any shoot and pole vaulters ;)

3. on a serious note, doesn't matter you guys believe it or not but it's true that INDIA will never attack BD much less with missiles.

It's not $100mn. I guess that will be the price of our Super Sukhoi - 30 MKI. IMO the generic export version will set you back by around $65mn. Not more than that.

the MKI is expensive since it was heavily customised (with the top of the line and most expensive french/Israeli avionice and missiles) and again being done so to carry brahmos with improved engine/Larger radar etc..

check my reply above. !!

Nah, it will cost more than $65 million to get a good su30. $65mil is gonna get us a very basic jet without much fangs. We dont need a MKI type jet but a decent 4+ gen one(and cheap) will do.

I was just replying to him if we have anything that can reach any indian cities

LOL....we only operate less than a dozen 4th generation planes, and you are dreaming about a 5th generation one that's still in prototype stages :lol:

Gripen NG/F-16 blk 60 are great jets. I'd go for those first hand.

Although, there'd definitely be complications.

First, even the Gripen use an American engine.

Second, it can fire the AMRAAM, for which the American would be unlikely to offer us initially. I am not saying that the AMRAAM would be impossible to acquire, but it'd be a lengthy and possibly a costly process to get them.

The Malaysians were refused AMRAAM for their F-18s. And they picked the SU-30MKM over the F-18 Super Hornet partly due to this reason. But they are still interested in the F-18 SH.

As I said, it's potentially a lengthy and expensive process acquiring it.

The AMRAAM itself is pretty expensive compared to the SD-10A and RVV BVR missile. The latter which we already use on our MiGs.

Both Thailand and Pakistan for instance currently use the AMRAAM, both of whom have good relations with China. Hell, the later is even an ally.

I do not know about the Meteor missile.

The MiG-29SMT is good, with potent A2G capabilities. But the Burmese already use it.

A good SU-30 variant would give us more of an edge over them. Given that we'd be procuring them slowly over the next 13 years, I think it's possible. But yes, it'd be a challenge given our economy. Especially right now...

Why can't BD get some 2nd hand aircrafts from friendly countries?

Anyways I would like BD to invest their precious money in helicopters, transport aircrafts and SAMs which will be of use during peace time also rather than waste resources on combat jets which will be of no use against India.

.
sing Yak-130 combat trainer in flight schools, military forces and combat training centers could reduce operating costs 4-5 times and save resource of double-seated combat aircraft, which are currently used for pilot training.

The aircraft is notable for:

excellent performance at low flight speeds;
the possibility to fly at big angles of attack;
excellent maneuverability characteristics;
high characteristics of steady and unsteady turn;
high climb rate;
excellent takeoff and landing characteristics;
high armament load and possibility to apply high-precision weapons.
