Bangladesh LDCs' top manufacturing exporter

Bangladesh is the leading manufacturing exporters among the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in last year, according to the World Trade Statistical Review 2016.

The country’s manufacturing exports stood at $32.17 billion in 2015, followed by $12 billion of Cambodia and $2.3 billion of Madagascar, revealed the latest report released by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) recently.

In 2015, LDCs’ total export earnings posted 25 per cent growth over the previous year (2014).

Bangladesh also placed at the top of the list of LDCs’ manufacturing imports in last year, according to the WTO annual statistical report.

The value of manufacturing imports stood at $39.45 billion in 2015, followed by $6.28 billion of Nepal.

Angola became the top exporter of oil last year among the LDCs as earnings stood at $34.15 billion although the country’s export earnings from oil declined by 42 per cent due to global slump in oil market. –AK

This is not surprising.Bangladesh is the largest economy within LDC by a wide margin. Bangladesh's economy is 226 billion US dollar while the 2nd largest is Sudan with 93 billion US dollar economy.

I know first hand. Regrettable but not insurmountable. They export a third of what you export with a population of about a 12th of yours. Think about it.
When you put it that way. Cambodia's figures do sound impressive.

End of the day its how much your economy makes out of every dollar you export not the volume of the export.
Its little comlicated than just plain number.

Are the margins high in cheap, disposable clothes? Are the Cambos making even cheaper goods with lower margins?

No, combos just dont receive the share of the profits people make at the expense of their cheap labor, land and utilities.

At four times the per capita volume, even if a fraction of the revenues were spent at home, they would still be doing better than you boys.

We think ours is doing better for us. Lets leave it there. As burmese still at the infancy in this trade, you sjould follow the best model that you think will shape your future. BD just one of the models.

Whatever people say and however they twist, at the end of the day BD exports are LDC top top by a great margin.
