An Islamic rights group urged the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, to investigate the government of
Bangladesh for alleged crimes against humanity by persecuting its political foes.

British lawyer Toby Cadman said he filed the request on behalf of the International Coalition for Freedoms of Rights a month after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party won an election marred by violence and a boycott by the main opposition party.

There is difference between requesting for an investigation an suing someone!

. .
Has this been done ever before ?? If yes then what was the outcome , anybody??

.
This case is india backed illegitimate Awami League regime which does not represent Bangladeshi people nor does have mandate. This india backed regime committed genocide and in last one month killed more than 500 people in Bangladesh.

Same type of cases are ongoing against Sudanese, Uganda, Kenyan, Libyan and other regimes.

Anybody can sue anybody, hardly matters, come back if the crime is proven. :-)

Good move. If not anything at least this would create some more International awareness about massive violation of human rights by the current government and give the International community some more ground to weaken this government if they have to care.

In this case it's going to be easier to prove as there are plenty of videos. Especially the injustice done by the so called Int Crimes Tribunal of BD is well documented.

I don't think individuals can initiate the process in ICJ. Either it has to be UN or the individual country who can initiate the process.
I m not sure about what they do with individual complaints but seems like they receive every paper which comes in their way but don't take in cognigence.

Most important thing in the consideration for the court is if large group of people became victim of mass killing. Today Bangladesh opposition as group facing killing, shooting and abduction from India backed Awami League. more than 500 opposition leaders killed and abducted and leading human rights organization already warn about human crisis in Bangladesh. There are more than enough cause for court to proceed with case. Lets see next step they take.
