Attacking trio Shamsunnahar, Tahura and Anai netted a brace each while Anuching Mogini, Nilufar Yeasmin Nila, Sajeda Khatun and Shamsunnahar Jr added one apiece.
Bangladesh’s sheer dominance in the game started when Sajeda broke the deadlock in the 13th minute before Tahura struck twice in seven minutes. Shamsunnahar bagged her first in the 21st minute before grabbing her second 56th minute.
Anai notched her first in the 24th minute before adding the other in the 68th minute. Shamsunnahar Jr, Anuching and Nila extended the lead, scoring in the 37th, 46th and 70th minute respectively. Malaysia’s consolation goal was scored by Gemini in the 53rd minute.
Bangladesh girls will face Iran in their second match Saturday before taking on host Hong Kong the following day to conclude their campaign in the four-nation tournament. After each team play each other once, the top finisher would clinch the title.
Following the game, Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “The girls are playing superbly and gave their 100% effort against Malaysia. Three players made their debut in this game – Shohagi [Kisku], Munni [Akter] and Rumi [Akter]. They played a fantastic game, along with their team mates. Our team made a good start. Now we will take each match as it comes. We will try our best to win.Our next match is against Iran. They are a strong team. We are serious about our next game. We will try to continue our winning streak in the next match. Please pray for us.”
Debutant Shohagi said, ” I am very happy with this big win in my first international game. We have to be very careful in our next game against Iran. I will try to give my best effort.”
