What's new

Bangladesh GDP per capita hasn't crossed Pakistani GDP per capita

IMF hasn't updated our figures for 2017 but last time they calculated for 2016 BD was $100-150 behind . We are also using 2005 as base year
I calculated somewhere between $1350-$1600 using 2005 as a base year, could double if we use 2017 base year?

So if the base year is changed will Pak economy automatically surpass Indian?
GDP Per capita nominal likely....

That's what happens when wannabes try to talk economics. Have you gone through the real reasons why Nigerian GDP increased by 90%, it has nothing to do with re-basing. The fact is, along with re-basing they added a lot of sectors which were earlier not accounted for while calculating GDP, such as movies, retail etc. So basically, Nigeria was calculating its GDP in a wrong way and under reporting it. That might be or might not be the case with Pakistan.

Kakay itna mat soch tera dimagh chal jayega :D :D :D

When GDP is rebased all such sectors are taken into consideration. All sectors which are not considered earlier becomes part of it. I don't know why ill-literates like you keep on putting your noisy instead of searching something.

How you are sure that this might not be the case with Pakistan? Why don't you wait for an year to see the results of rebasing? Do you even know how poorly Pakistan GDP is being calculated?

207.8 million according to census results last month.

Wrong. Its 207.8 million according to results of census released last month.

GDP $305,000,000,000 ÷ Pop 207,800,000 = $1467.75 gdp per capita nominal.

Bangladesh Gdp is growing faster than ours and surely going to overtake our low mark of roughly $1467 as they are growing 2% faster than Pakistan?

Bangladesh GDP growth record 7.24pc, per capita income $1,602

I don't mean to troll but you guys need some serious reforms on your economic and foreign policies. How is this happening when you guys are seeing massive investments from CPEC? What's left of the economy taking out CPEC loans? It wasn't long ago Pakistan was way ahead of Bangladesh and comfortably ahead of India in terms of GDP per capita.

Congrats Bangladesh...doing good in exports and overall economy, trickle down effects to the masses is also good.

As for Pakistan, maturity of projects, not just related to CPEC will take some time. RLNG, coal, hydel power plants will take more time, a few of them has been inaugurated recently, helping but the shortage is still more than 6000MW's.

.
BANGLADESH GDP is growing twice as fast as PAKISTAN.

The 2 ECONOMIES are almost the SAME SIZE .

IE about $320 billion for 200 million Pakistanis AND around $250 billon for 160 millon bangladeshis
