lol...Maldive....guess u dont read news...just chk the recent thread about Mynmaar...we have made them(China) pay with interest....and look...this Maldivs, SLs are just making best use of chinese overflowing capital....dont ever except china will get their loyalty...they had been with India for decades and if overnight they choose to sleep with China, then just imagine...China has done a deal with Prostitude who does not have any loyaltity!!!...lol

I dont understand one thing.if bd is so far ahead and ppl are so happy then why are we in kolkata flooded with so many bangladeshi illigal immigrants who are working as domestic helps.so many bangladeshi educated girls are married off to indians by their parents just to have better quality of life.Isnt this reality?

In BD it's a taboo to get married to Indian hindus, unless you're talking about dalits. But then again BD dalits are doing better than their Indian rape-vitcim, caste-victim counterparts - so it defies common sense for them to look for Indian dalit men.

Kolkata, Jan 6 (bdnews24.com)— Nobel laureate Amartya Sen says Bangladesh has overtaken India in "every parameter of human development".

The globally acclaimed economist delivered the G.L. Mehta lecture at the IIT Bombay campus entitled "India: A defence and a Critique" on Saturday, according to the Times of India.

It quoted Sen as saying that human development has a lot to do with gender equality and Bangladesh had forged far ahead of India on that count.

"Not too long ago, Bangladesh was behind India on all indices. Today Bangladesh is the only country with more girls than boys in schools. It has a higher life expectancy, lower mortality rates and more women in the labour force," Sen was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Sen said that gender equality had become increasingly important in Bangladesh politics as well.

He slammed the Indian state for the way it has treated issues of human development, specially gender equality.

Talking about the furore over the recent incident of gang-rape in Delhi, Sen said it is getting all the attention because it has happened in an urban metropolis.

"But lower caste Dalit women have suffered this indignity all over the country's rural areas for a long, long time, almost day in and day out," Sen said.

I am really happy that BD is progressing well in human development index...This is a good sign for a nation to eradicate poverty. India will always face a tough task to acheive this task due to its sheer population...But any way good luck to BD.

This is no surprise.

India has the disadvantage if being composed of many states that have their own systems and also the Hindu caste system that gives little respect and dignity to the lower castes.

BD will just get further and further ahead of India into the future(up to 2020) before India starts eventually to catch up(2020 onwards).

Amartya Sen knows the reality and truth that india CAN NOT get rid of poverty or raise its social development indicators by ethnic cleansing and labeling its own citizen as non indians.
