Bangladesh has broken the monthly exports record once again, shipping goods worth over $4.9 billion in December as the country’s economic recovery continued to gather pace after a pandemic-induced slump.

Exports grew 48.27 per cent year on year last month, exceeding the target by 25.45 per cent after a steady spell in the preceding months.

Exporters shipped $4.04 billion worth of goods in November after posting exports of $4.73 billion in October, the previous record, and $4.16 billion in September, reports bdnews24.com.

The shipments in December took the overall earnings in the first six months of the fiscal year near $24.7 billion, growing 28.41 per cent year on year and exceeding the target by 15.5 per cent, according to data published by the Export Promotion Bureau on Sunday.

The government set an export target of $43.5 billion for FY22.

Readymade garments contributed to about $20 billion, or more than 80 per cent, of the total exports in the July-December period, as the holiday season in the West continued smoothly for the most part, barring some disruptions towards the end due to fears of the spread of omicron, a highly infectious but less severe coronavirus variant.

Exports by the apparel sector grew over 28 per cent and exceeded the target by nearly 15.2 per cent.
The pandemic caused the export market to stumble in 2020. In April, May, and June of that year especially, exports slowed to a crawl.

Though there was a turning point in July, Bangladesh didn’t reach its export targets. As pandemic restrictions eased in July, exports found a new dynamism.

In the first 11 months of 2020, export earnings were about $30 billion. Over the same period in 2021, exports topped $56 billion.

How come Bangladesh stopped publishing the import figures?

Bangladesh could be staring at $30 billion in trade deficit (merchandise and services) this year.

This news is all about export performance. When import figures come out, someone will post them for you to read.

For now, take care of Arunachal. Without BD assisting India, Chinese PLA will be knocking at your doors. Assamese can then flee to their native land China/ Kunming because Indians do not like CHINI in their midst.

Lol. What a rant. Import figures are deliberately not being released since in last 5 months, it already reached close to $13 billion.

And if you want to talk about India and China, we are large countries and know boundaries of engagement. You are just too puny to meddle in that. If we are to come to that, we'll just walk by Bangladesh. Don't need consent.

Since most imports come from India in any case, I don't see why Indians like yourself have issues with it...

In reality with our imports from India, and of course remittances paid to India unofficially via Hundi and officially fourth largest remittance source for India - we are certainly doing our part to keep Indian economy afloat. I'd say close to $40~50 Billion annually to India alone.

A word of Thanks would be nice, but you come here with hands on hips, and waving a rolling pin like some Indian Aunty...

Like I said in another thread, train your soldiers to practice holding their ears and do sit-ups.

Large country BS doesn't matter.

Also - be sure to practice how to retreat through Bangladesh in blazing speed as well.

Can someone post the monthly breakdown of BD exports for 2021, if $4.9 bn was a record, then the remaining 11 for which it exported $56 bn, then it should have been exporting in excess of $5bn each month, thus breaking the record each month.

Figure of $56 bn doesn't add up if your best month ever was only $4.9 bn.

Doesn't matter. This article is regarding exports and they have done pretty well.

Question to be asked is how it is 56B if 4.9B is the highest? Maybe it includes services?

Yes services are included in $56 billion. I can appreciate their export figures. They are doing extremely well. But their imports too are sky rocketing. And their govt is pretty cunning giving only the positive news. PDF Bangos use this selective numbers to gloat. lol.

$4.9B is record for December, meaning Bangladesh never exported at this volume in all previous Decembers from 1971-2020.

I do not know the import figures. But we have $25 billion of remittance although much of our money is again remitted to that hinterland called India by your impoverished citizens who cross the border illegally and cry for jobs.

I any case, our dollar reserve will increase this year as usual. I expect to hear $50 billion reserves although Indians will be crying on that.

Yes, you should enter BD land to test what we are and what our land/ river/ canal and marsh system is. It is Hell for Indian troops who cannot even swim. Even IN sailors cannot swim.

If you move your troops to our border, what happens to your border in the west with Pakistan. PA will love that scenario. So, a triple punch from China, BD and Pakistan. At that point, India breaks into15 countries.

Even Rajputs forgot how to fight. Only Sikhs are good fighters. So, how do your IA troops enter our land?

I think you are right about the export figure at $56 billion a little high. But anyway, it is in the newspaper and I did not change a letter there.

Sorry, the Financial Express above says the export value is about $40 billion. So, we can accept this figure without a doubt.
