Bangladesh: Defence to get extensive facelift

We don't provide Saudi Arabia with a nuclear umbrella because of our love for the Arabs or perhaps as you suggested deferred payments for oil but for a very simple reason and that is because it is a holy city for the whole of Muslim ummah. The same does not stand for any other country. Moreover if Pakistan has got the world attention, that does not mean we need to increase it even more, i'm sure you must be aware of the word Islamic bomb and the rest of the world is paranoid with the Islamic bomb concept, where do you think it will lead us to once we start providing nuclear umbrella to every other country in the name of brother hood.Think
And one more thing why does BD need a nuclear umbrella and against whom?

No we don't need nuclear umbrella.We also don't want nuclear weapons in future.As we have already signed pact.But we need nuclear energy,which is well on the way.

If some how Pakistan offer the Nuke umbrella to Bd and if Bd accept the offer than whole dynamic of SA will changed. Pak will have air and naval base in Bd and therefor we shall once again rule the south Asia just like Mughal. Greater Pak-Bangla will be verge of making. I know it's a dream but one must dream to implement better tomorrow.

Pak-Bangla military union is demand of the time and we shall act upon with greater ambition.....

That's an impossible wish brother.Majority of Bangladeshis will not allow this.Including me.Off course the government will not as well.

Hasina for building BDR a trained force

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (Tuesday) urged the members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) to work for the welfare of the country.

The prime minister said this while inaugurating 'Bangladesh Rifles Week-2009' at the BDR Headquarters this morning adding assurance to help in making BDR a trained, competent and disciplined force, ATN Bangla, a private television channel reports.

"To build BDR a disciplined and strong force, modern technology, training and logistic support are necessary and our government has taken steps to increase the strategic capability of the force, " Hasina said.

She also assured her government's all out support for the welfare of the force.

Earlier, the prime minister received salute from the members of the BDR. Home Minister Sahara Khatun and BDR Director General Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed were present on the occasion.

Pakistan already got more then enough attention as i told you...before the thread derail one last thing...everyone is equal as Allah told in Quran i don't differentiate between Arabs and Bangladeshi brothers..if OIC was powerful and if it has given due respect to Pakistan and fullest support to Pakistan in all terms could have declared nuke umbrella to key Arab Nations as well as non arab states...its strictly not about Holy land..if its about holy land Saudis didn't help Palestinians the holy land as well.. over and out brother..

Oh I didn't know,sorry bro.

BTW what should she do to strengthen BDR?We need to strengthen them so that BSF bullying can be countered.

What do you people suggest?

I think getting UAVs,better assault rifles,night vision goggles,better petrol boats will be good option.Moreover building more outposts to monitor activity of BSF and NASAKA of Burma.Just now I heard both BSF and NASAKA killed one and two Bangladeshi nationals respectively.
Also these outposts will enable them to have better view of cross border illegal activities like smuggling and human trafficking.
