What's new

Bangladesh blocks YouTube to prevent people from seeing anti-Islamic video.

:agree: thats why Govt of BD. govt of Pak and many other govts are doing so , so why doubel standards by even members like you ?

Where is the double standards ??

Not sure what made you feel so. But if the ref is the point I made about not being touchy, I maintain that as humans we need to lower our threshold of tolerance towards one another on various subjects.

Religion is one of them.

How much difference is this gonna make onto the shares of youtube ?? Probably not much ......
How much difference will it make into the internet pop. of Bd ?? A lot.......

Blocking youtube wont do much help. Those who really want to see the movie can just search for the movie online. The government should have just asked google to block the movie only.

@CD

Mistake..BJP started the campaign to build temple by destroying Babri Masjid in Ayodhya...Famous line was "Mandir banakar rahenge" that mean "We will build the temple"

It was more of political stunt than religious act.

and Thanks.

@ManuZ
Buddy most of the people don't search for anti-Islamic blogs and videos. How many such videos have you seen on Dailymotion or Metacafe ? Youtube is the first choice. But this controversy is already doing more damage. Govt. has to take step, after all Govt. is for people. It has to respect the general sentiment.

More debate on this issue, more people will see it. Chinese approach would have been good.

FYI, it was Congress which allowed Hindus to perform Puja in that Masjid before it was pulled down..

Govt lifts ban on YouTube

Govt lifts ban on YouTube

WEDNESDAY, 28 NOVEMBER 2012 AUTHOR / SOURCE: INDEPENDENT ONLINE REPORT
DHAKA: The government has lifted its ban on YouTube on Wednesday, ending its 71-day embargo on the world’s most seen video-sharing website following posting of an anti-Islamic film.

A high official of Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) confirmed it to The Independent.

On Wednesday, Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu also said the government will soon lift the ban on YouTube.

“We have sent a letter to YouTube authority to ensure that the anti-Islamic movie can’t be watched from anywhere in Bangladesh,’ he told reporters at a press briefing held at secretariat.

The minister further said, "Personally, I want resumption of Youtube service in my country. That's why, I have talked to the authorities concerned in this regard."

BTRC blocked YouTube.com on September 17.

So it seems BD had to bow down before google finally, the movie is still there on youtube.
