Bangladesh Army chief hopes to increase Saudi-Bangladesh military cooperation

No you didnt.

Bangladesh army was part of peacekeeping forces in Kuwait for de-mining Operations.. lead by Pak.

While 75,000 Pak troops were in KSA under a defence pact.

Pak also sells hundreds of millions of dollars worth equipment to KSA alone.

POF alone sold 92 milloon dollar worth weapons n ammunition in 2016 to KSA.

As for BD.. good idea.. but unfortunately BD doesnt produce anything other than Chinese rifles under license..

I don’t think so professor.

Why should we appease these scum who don’t respect our folk? GTFO.

Sometimes the Muslim card is pure bull shit.

.
There can be some disagreement on this issue and some may throw derogatory term. Keeping them aside, I say its good move. There will be more exposure for BD troops if they grab these opportunities wherever its possible. Stay with the armed forces decision, they know their job well. But staying close to reality will be good for all. BD army isnt battle hardened. For foreseeable future they will maintain supporting role all around the world for front line troops. In that sense they wont take the job as cannon fodders. In homeland that is another issue. Holding defensive positions for strategic locations, humanitarian assistance, holding communication centres, support front line troops, MP, training, clearing mine fields, supervise defense buildup and in some cases take part in small anti militancy operation. In a big area like GCC there wont be any shortage of these types of roles. Casualty will be minimal. Troop salary will be double-triple, payments will be for every bullets and guns they use. Get some military hardwares out of there, more civilian man power export with dignity ofcourse. After troops started to take part in UN missions the mutiny unrest came to zero. The soldiers got happy and organized after that. In UN mission people were saying troops were hesitating to fire at militants hence the casualties. One way it can be said they were not given orders or other way not well cope with the situation. BD army was really fierce in the 80s, still had to forge peace treaty with ragtag hill militias. That is total embarrassment on the face of BD.

Why ?

I can post details of Bangladeshi peacekeeper Operations in kuwait at that time.

Apart from a friend of my father who was also posted to Kuwait..

Go ahead. Give me official sources with details. Thanks.

You do know that you people will look even funnier than the Indians if you carry the same Supa Pawa syndrome.

The operation was, in no sense led by Pak. The coalition force was led by the US, be it peacekeeping or anything else. Pakistani troops were standby as reserves while Bangladeshi troops actively participated in the operation.

UNIKOM was established in April 1991 following the forced withdrawal of Iraqi forces from Kuwait. Its task was to monitor the demilitarized zone along the Iraq-Kuwait border, deter border violations and report on any hostile action. The mandate of the Mission was completed on 6 October 2003.

Pakistan , with its long tradition and considerable experience of assisting friendly nations in need of international help, offered its services for the reclamation of the devastated land. Finally the job was separately entrusted to Pakistan and six other countries.

Pakistan was assigned the most difficult area in the north of Kuwait city. It was spread over 3000 square kilometers. Subsequently reclamation of Bubiyan Island also was entrusted to Pakistan .

The operation was carried out by a task force of Pakistan Army Engineers belonging to Frontier Works only did experts from different countries who visited Kuwait during the reclamation process appreciate the quality of work of the dedicated Pakistanis but professionals of other countries carrying out similar task in adjoining sectors also expressed admiration for the high standards of thoroughness and safety that they maintained.

Task Force Kuwait

Engineering battalions for mine-clearing operations in Kuwait

Officers
38
Junior Commissioned Officers
37
Other Ranks
985
Civilians

Total 1136
Thanks to their zeal and enthusiasm the Pakistanis, despite inclement weather and submergence of Bubiyan Island in water, completed the job in record time to the satisfaction of the Kuwait government. In this way they, in keeping with a well-established Pakistani tradition, played a vital role in the process of speedy recovery of a friendly country from the ravages of war.

Number 1: Where do your sources mention Bangladesh?

Number 2: Bangladesh contributed troops to Operation Desert Shield which took place before the dates
addressed in your sources. i.e. before April 1991.
