3. President of BD confirmed on live TV that BD will buy 16 MRCA fighters and 8 attack helicopters.

4. UK said last year that it is ready to supply fighters(Eurofighter) to meet BAF's MRCA requirements.

BD economy is BOOMING with lots of money to buy modern Western weapons.

J-11A features old Russian radar and 70km range Russian missile. It got beaten easily by Gripen C as it had a better longer ranged radar and it's missile was longer ranged.

J-10A did better against Gripen C.

J-10C features a modern Chinese AESA radar and the PL-15 missile that can match the Gripen Es Meteor missile, although I still think that the Gripen E AESA radar is better and the Meteor is a better missile. J-10C can carry heavier load and is better at high altitude manuverability.

Bangladesh needs to sign GSOMIA before they can buy anything from US. Your president and prime Minister declared many things in the past. A politician can declare many things that doesn't mean anything unless both sides actually ink the deal and pay deposit.
Until Bangladesh signs GSOMIA, there will be no Apache, no fighters jets. BTW have you have seen DGDP use gmail and yahoo as the contract email in the tender. The article says that during exercise between Chinese J-11A(Russian SU-27SK) and Thai Gripen C, the Chinese "lost" 41 againt 4 by the Thais in BVR engagements.

When China introduced their own J-10A, the Chinese did better. The results improved further in favour of the Chinese when J-10C was brought in.

It looks like the main advantage that the Gripen had was better radar and missile and things eventually evened out when the J-10C with Chinese AESA radar and PL-15 went into play. Both the AESA radar on J-10C and PL-15 seeker are Chinese as there is no Russian equivalent available!

Yes Russian aviation tech is crap compared to West but the Chinese are better and the gap is closing as we speak as China is playing catchup and is pouring brains and money to catch up. It is simple logic that China will progress faster than the West.

I do not think it will take China decades to catch up with Western fighter tech but maybe 10 years with Europe and little bit more with USA. Engines are also going up in leaps and bounds and that article was criticising the lack of a 5th generation fighter engine and not the WS-10B that now equips all Chinese modern fighters being produced - J-10C,J-11B/D and J-20.

FRENCH AIR FORCE CHIEF CALLS ON BANGLADESH AIR FORCE CHIEF

Dhaka, February 09:- Chief of Staff of French Air Force, General d’armee aerienne Philippe Lavigne called on Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc at Air Headquarters on Sunday (09-02-2020).

During call on, Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force, cordially thanked Chief of Staff of French Air Force, for visiting Bangladesh. He exchanged greetings and spent some time with the French Air Chief. They also discussed different issues of bi-lateral interests. During discussion, Chief of staff of French Air Force was briefed on different activities of Bangladesh Air Force. They expressed hope to continue mutual co-operation to strengthen the existing relationship between Bangladesh and French Air Force.

In the morning Chief of Staff of French Air Force visited Shikha Anirban (Eternal Flame) at Dhaka Cantonment and paid homage to the members of Armed Forces martyred during the War of Liberation in 1971 by placing floral wreath at the mausoleum. He also signed visitor’s book there.

On arrival at Air Headquarters, Chief of Staff of French Air Force was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out BAF Contingent. He inspected the guard and took salute.

During his stay in Bangladesh, Chief of Staff of French Air Force visited different military and civil installations including Armed Forces Division, BAF Base Bangabandhu and Bangabandhu Aeronautical Centre (BAC).

Mentionable that, Chief of Staff of French Air Force, along with 04 delegation members arrived in Bangladesh on 08 Feb 2020 on a 03 days official visit. It is expected that the visit will play an important role for strengthening the existing friendly relationship between Air Forces of the two countries.
