I THINK IT WILL BE A OVERREACTIVE DECISION...READ TO KNOW

Taking a strong stand against protectionist measures taken by the US administration, Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) today said American companies should not be allowed to participate in Indian e-governance projects.

"Presently the major beneficiaries of the e-governance projects outsourced by the Union and state governments are US companies like Microsoft, IBM and Oracle," ESC said in a statement.

ESC added that such restrictions from the Indian side will immensely benefit Indian ICT firms, particularly those in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector.

The state of Ohio has banned outsourcing of government information technology and back-office projects to locations such as India.

"The adverse impact on SMEs on account of the ban is more severe and if the situation is allowed to drift, it would also result in wiping out of the SME sector in India," ESC Executive Director D K Sareen said.

He urged the Union Commerce Minister to impress upon their counterparts that protectionist measures will not help in the development of bilateral trade and investment.

"There should be expressed provisions in the e-governance contracts that certain percentage of business should be earmarked for the SMEs and this should be implemented in letter and spirit," ESC said.

ESC said it was a misconception that outsourcing is a zero sum game for the US corporations.

"The truth is that USD 30 billion export of software and related exports to the US has benefitted the country in as much terms as India has gained," ESC said.

Alright so there should be no hardware technology developed by

HP / IBM / Dell

And no operating systems, productivity softwares, database and programming languages developed by Microsoft, SUN, Oracle, etc etc

Where would India stand?? The bhoot of indegious is as true as the genie in the bottle.

First of all if we ban those companies in such project then nothing gonaa be adverse impact on Indian Projects since these are the companies those need INDAIN market to stay alive in this region of the world and they never gonna say NO to use their product. Secondly Direct project offer and 3rd party project completion are two different things . Buddy here they are not talking abt the WHOLE BAN on this companies, they are talking abt the ONLY E-Governence Project to give a Diplomatic answer to their OHIO strategy ... by the way as per sentence below

""ESC added that such restrictions from the Indian side will immensely benefit Indian ICT firms, particularly those in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector".

that means that will help indian service firms.

TO OUTSOURCE THE PROJECT AND TO USE THEIR PRODUCT IN THE PROJECT IS FAR DIFFERENT THING. No company gonaa deny to utilised their product in the same country where they are getting most of their business and manpower for the development. Use of their product by 3rd party mentor in the XYZ project is normal all over the world which is cheaper and to give that perticular project to the same company straight away is quite coastly.

There is no question arises of Indigenous development n all since the project that they are talking abt is service based project not R&D inclined...
Indigenous BHUT will always be their with India in the Field Of Defence as long Competition in South Asia is Concern. since we dont have China or North Korea to Support in our defence developement ..lolz

do u know who(person) designed pentium processor in Intel ,which ur using in ur computer now...
In 1971, after graduation, he joined a Delhi-based semiconductor company called Continental Devices. In 1975, he left this job and joined University of Cincinnati to pursue a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, where he specialized in Solid State Science. After completing his masters degree in 1977, he joined NCR Corporation at Dayton, Ohio. He then joined Intel, and started working on the Pentium chip. He is called the "Father of Pentium" for his role in the development of the Pentium processor.[3][4] He is also one of the co-inventors of non-volatile flash memory.[citation needed] He rose to the position of vice-president of Intel. He left Intel in 1995, and joined a number of startups including NexGen, which was acquired by AMD, and then went on to Silicon Spice, which was acquired by Broadcom in 2000. He is also the co-founding partner of New Path Ventures which has funded companies like Nevis Networks. In an interview, Dham said that he came to the United States with only "$8 in his pocket".

do u know who designed Hotmail..
Sabeer Bhatia joined a startup company called Firepower Systems Inc, where he spent two years. In 1994, Sabeer started working on new ideas for the Internet and he teamed up with Jack Smith, a colleague from Apple Computer, Inc.

The two came up with the concept of a web-based database entitled Javasoft. While pursuing this idea, they subsequently realized the potential of a web-based e-mail system and thus decided to create one called HoTMaiL (the uppercase letters spelling out HTML—the language used to write the base of a webpage). In order to attract attention, the e-mail service was provided for free and revenue was obtained through the advertising on the website. Draper Fisher Ventures invested $300,000 on the project and the service was launched on July 4, 1996.[2]

do u know who designed and invented USB,that u use very often ..

Ajay V. Bhatt[3] is an Indian-American computer architect. He has been instrumental in driving definition and development of broadly adopted technologies such as USB (Universal Serial Bus), AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port), PCI Express, Platform Power management architecture and various chipset enhancements. Ajay Bhatt rose to global celebrity as the co-inventor of USB through an Intel 2009 TV advertisement, where he was portrayed by actor Sunil Narkar.

Yes sure as hell i know..

While the indians today beat the drum of pride to their names they forget to realize that all these indians rose to fame in western countries and organisations while India itself has totally failed to make use of its talent.
