ISLAMABAD: Vigilance has been mounted around 11 local clerics after a ban was imposed on them by the capital administration to avoid sectarian tension in the city.

Besides, the entry of 16 ulema into the capital city has been banned.

A notification issued from the office of the district magistrate, Mushtaq Ahmed, stated: “Your utterances are likely to ignite the tension already existing between various religious sects of the district which may result in loss to public life and property and may also create law and order situation.”

The notification said the local ulema cannot deliver speeches at any public gathering within the limits of the district of Islamabad for two months. Four of the clerics belong to the Deobandi school of thought, four to the Shia community and three are Barelvis.

Through another notification, the entry of 16 ulema belonging to other districts was banned in the capital for two months. The firebrand speakers were likely to indulge in sectarian activities, deliver provocative speeches and sermons aiming at creating hatred between different sects.

“In the current security environment coupled with threat perception of terrorism, it is apprehended that any breakdown of law and order due to sectarian violence may be used by terrorists as an opportunity to achieve their objectives,” the notification added. Seven of the ulema were from the Deobandi school of thought, five Shias and four Barelvis.

Govt should start making a Plan with Islamic research Foundation Islamabad to certify and give license who go through training and pass all the exams , then they should be allowed to Preach and become Imam. Imam business should not be taken lightly.

I believe this is how it works in most Muslim countries. Definitely in countries like UAE and Turkey, Imams have to be certified by the state, and those who spread sectarian or other forms of hatred are clamped down on hard. Pakistan really has a long way to go in this regard.

.
Sectarian hate was spread openly during Zardari rule.
Now things have started to fall under control.
Control has to be tighten even further on those who bring religon out of Mosque, Church, Mandir, Synagoge etc. and try to use religon to win immigration of Australia/ UK/ US....

With due respect to you please compare the pics of Pakistan of 1900 and 2015.

How about banning all clerics and encouraging a rotating Imam policy for a neighborhood? Mosque's can be cleaned by government appointed cleaners, a Muezzin can be hired whose only job is to give the Azaan and if the common muslim cannot lead others in prayer than they should be ashamed of themselves.

End Clerics - Save Muslims.

It is a cyclic system. The Madressas feed this Masjid employment and it is a small cottage industry in itself. But these seminaries are teaching extremism and hatred most of the time and it propagates through society. So either ALL Masjid Imams need to be vetted as is done in Turkey @HAKIKAT , or they need to be eliminated all together.

The madressa in general has no positive impact on Pakistani society besides providing housing for the poor in return for turning them into hateful bigots and extremists.

We also need to control kuffar/bidat/religous jahalat, grave worshiping, jali babas, jali taweez ganda, urs and lavish Eid milad un nabi celebration. Instread of spending money on lights and jaloos, we should collect the money to feed the poor people.

I have also talked about this in my previous posts. We need a Islamic reserarch institues to establish true islamic way of life and it should reflect the true teaching of Islam.

Thats how KSA has streamlined all of its Masajids and Madrassas. Even the Jumma, Eid Sermon is written and sent by Ministry of Religious Affairs. No sectarian haterd is allowed to be uttered anywhere even if it is supposedly the most anti Shia country. People might not like it but this is need of the hour that Pakistan needs esp with regards to curbing the "unknown funding sources" of Madrassas and different Clerics in the country. This holds true not only for Muslims but also for all Religions in Pakistan.
