Baltimore riots leave Chinese family business destroyed

BALTIMORE — National Guard troops fanned out through the city, shield-bearing police officers blocked the streets and firefighters doused still-simmering blazes early Tuesday as a growing area of Baltimore shuddered from riots following the funeral of a black man who died in police custody.

The violence that started in West Baltimore on Monday afternoon — within a mile of where Freddie Gray was arrested and placed into a police van earlier this month — had by midnight spread to East Baltimore and neighbourhoods close to downtown and near the baseball stadium.

I feel sorry for them, just as I would if they were any other race.

Race relations are the US' great Achilles heel. Asian Americans should have learnt this from 1992 LA riots. If they left Asia because of better economic opportunities in the States, they should have known that the trade-off was giving up Asia's superior record on social cohesion/law and order issues, and planned accordingly.

Considering all the gun firepower ordinary American's have access to you'd think we would be the one with 150 dead in a crazy race riot. Oddly enough I guess that shows he have FAR FAR more restraint than you guys do.

That pretty much looks like a police state and the cops are trained to shoot to kill. Also there is little or no organized real political opposition that has much of any following. Groups to the left of center, other than social democratic toadies that support US "democracy", were destroyed years ago and never recovered.

Scary stuff and glad not to be there.
