ISLAMABAD: The world’s most expensive metal molybdenum has been recently discovered in Balochistan which has 0.1 million dollars per ton cost and it is used for making the aircraft, said Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) Director General (DG) Dr Imran.

He was briefing the sub-committee of the standing committee on petroleum on Thursday. The body met under Senator Fateh Muhammad Hassani.

Imran said molybdenum could be found in the Tethyan Metallogenic Belt which passes through Bulgaria, Greece, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

GSP has discovered 36 precious minerals in Balochistan which include antimony, aragonite/marble, copper, dolomite, gold, fluorite, gypsum and magnetite.

He said further the cost of these hidden resources is around $50 trillion and Reko Diq has a $1 trillion worth.

Hassani said this metal could be found in Kuh-e-Taftan which was given to Iran by the government in 1960.

Imran said that Sandvik Metal Limited is exploring minerals in this area but GSP discoveries could not be highlighted due to the strict rules.

He added that the GSP has completed 132 projects in the last five years. The institute had spent Rs 298 million development budget in the last fiscal year.

Senator Nisar Muhammad said the government has funded 16 projects in the last five year through PSDP. The country has unlimited resources but the Planning Ministry is not allocating money to discover them, he lamented.

Hassani said the committee would direct the government to increase the budget of GSP, adding that it should work along with Pakistani companies to discover the hidden resources.

The GSP works under the Petroleum Ministry. The organisation is responsible to discover resources through geological, geographical and geochemical research.

Senator Azam Khan Mandokhel said smuggled Iranian petrol and diesel were available across Pakistan. He added 390 filling stations were illegally providing petrol in the country.

Hassani said PSO officials are involved in the admixture of petrol. The committee members showed their annoyance over the PSO MD for not attending the meeting.

@LA se Karachi

WOW right on time. We can use these in our JF17 and convert it into best and it will give us finished good price. Win win situation for Pakistan

.
Just to keep things in perspective, the value of all the gold ever mined to date, from all of human history, is about $8.5 trillion. Only.
1 + 3 = 13

@ topic

Glad to hear about more reserves found. But our generation need to utilise these reserves if any and not celebrate and forget like we have been doing in the past

Let us be clear: There are claims of reserves being found. Claims.

When there is a land, there are reserves in it

How much, how valuable, how cost effective is another question and in our case we cannot utilise most of our reserves due to lack of technology, infrastructure and technical skills.

I can agree with the above.

What lies beneath cannot benefit anyone if it stays there.

There Was A Border Agreement in 1962 and Some Territory Was Exchanged

Well I have done a little bit of research on the Territorial exchange between Iran and Pakistan. For those interestered in the issue read Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto´s address to National Assembly on Boundary Agreement with Iran below:

"Some members of the House have charged the Government with having given away 3,000 square miles of our national territory to Iran without giving any information about it to this House. The Iran-Pakistan boundary agreement was concluded as far back as 6th February 1958. What took place on 15th July 1963 was purely the ceremonial act of the transfer of the areas concerned. This arose out of the obligation incurred by both the countries under the boundary agreement of 6th February 1958. It is not a fact that Pakistan has given away 3,000 square miles to Iran. We agreed to give to Iran 310 square miles of its territory, which had been forcibly occupied by the British, when they were rulers of the sub-continent and against which occupation the Government of Iran had always protested. In 1871, 1896 and 1905 Britain had forced Iran to conclude boundary agreements with it. But the Iranian Government had consistently refused to demarcate the boundary on the basis of those agreements. With the advent of Pakistan, and in view of its friendly and fraternal relations with Iran, a solution of this problem, which had been left over by history, became possible.

While the Government of Pakistan will transfer some 310 and not 3,000 square miles of territory to Iran, territory which had been in de facto occupation of the British Government of India, the Government of Iran has ceded 95 square miles of territory, hitherto under its occupation, to the Government of Pakistan. If the demarcation of the border had taken place in accordance with the 1905 agreement, concluded between the British and the Iranians, 300 square miles of territory would have had to be relinquished to Iran, but there would have been no cession by Iran of the 95 square miles of the territory which we are now acquiring under the agreement of 1958. I should, therefore, say that Pakistan has actually gained 95 square miles of territory under the border agreement with Iran. The ceremony about it which took place in Quetta on 15th July 1963 finally seals the friendship which has so long existed between Iran and Pakistan. As the members of the House are aware, Iran supports the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations. I hope I have said enough about our relations with Iran and the actual position in respect of the boundary agreement that has recently been concluded between that country and Pakistan.

I am least surprised. Baluchistan is known to possess rare minerals and other metals in abundance. There will be many discoveries throughout the years. There is a reason why our enemies are full of rage and jealousy about our rich province.

Baluchistan is a God's gift. Whether we and the Baluch people can benefit from this wealth is another debate.

Why am I NOT surprised ZAB did this.

Btw how is it an "exchange"? more of surrendering of territory.

. .
We have a lot but the issue is no gov support for extraction. There is only one diamond wire cutter for granite extraction in Pakistan and that is owned by Jhangeer Tareen and nothing else. An entire market of resources being wasted through blast extraction.

.
Molybdenum mineral has been found

What about extract-able ores ?

And as far as my knowledge goes, molybdenum in most places on earth occurs mostly with Lead or Copper. I am yet to hear projects announced in the area for extraction of the above metals !

.
@RealNapster .. now do I have any right to demand my rights from Federal government or demand any universities in balochistan or with the usage of these resources of my province or according to you I have to keep my mouth shut for the sake of NFS?

Well. it lies under your Provincial Government but if you wan't to. then. why not ! :enjoy:

or with the usage of these resources of my province

A sincere suggestion.
write a letter to your Provincial government. and ask them to "open/built" an OGDCL like company to extract these minerals. only in this case your province will be able to taste 100% of the revenue. otherwise if Baluchistan government opted for Partnership or total handover to Federal or any foreign company. then i don't think these reserves will help you that much.

BTW do you really think this 50 trillion dollar "estimate" is true ? as the total gold is extracted up to date, is not more then 8.5 billion dollars as per @Syed.Ali.Haider . :undecided:

'If you want ? ' Work on your ego bhai ji .
If I started talking with same selfishness and provincial like you ,then federal doesn't even deserve a coin from this project .
