China’s growing strength has created a big problem for India; China is continuously spending a huge sum on its defense.

India is mostly banking on others for its defence requirements including Planes Helicopters and so on whereas China mostly manufactures of its own, hence more military strength is required by India to cope up.

Even in the area of troops, India is deficient; it has to deploy 30,000 troops to match with China according to the Defence Minister A.K.Anthony.

As per the Defence Minister, China has invested a huge Working towards upgrading its military infrastructure along border with China, India will raise another 30,000 troops for the infantry battalions of its Army, Rajya Sabha was told today.

“30 infantry battalions are proposed to be raised in the 13th Five year Plan towards enhancing combat capacity,” Defence Minister A K Antony said in reply to a written query.

The Indian Army is planning to raise a Strike Corps for deployment along the China border which would mean raising of additional 90,000 troops for the force.

The Army has plans of raising the additional troops in the 12th and the 13th five-year defence plan periods. The Corps is proposed to be headquartered at Panagarh in West Bengal with its formations spread around north-eastern states sharing boundaries with China.

The Defence Minister further said the mobility of infantry battalions is proposed to be enhanced through introduction of superior vehicles with better cross-country mobility.

The budgetary allocation for capital acquisition for modernisation of Army during Financial Year 2012-2013 is Rs 13,724.14 crore, he said.

When asked Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist, he said, “India needs more equipping and guarding than what Defence Minister AK Anthony has said. To match China, India has to increase its strength three times in all areas.

So, 30 battalions to be raised huh...? Trust me even if India raises 300 battalions it aint gonna make a difference when it comes to China. Indian posters should stop embarrasing themselves by trying to prove they are a match for China. At least after the recent short little tea party the Chinese had in their territory. :china:

You have no idea how many tea parties both sides have had over the last two decades do you? Poking each other is a time honored tradition.

As to the extra troops. Do they balance out China? Depends, the no. of troops on both sides of the LAC are the same..so is the equipment too largely..from hepters to NLOS-BSMs. BUT as the recent Chinese incursion has shown..infrastructure is KING! Their road heads usually terminate 30 KMs or so away from the LAC..or at least the neutral perception of it while ours terminate a good 80KMs or so away. They can march in faster than we can over rough terrain and despite inclement weather. Not to mention the nifty highway in Xizang which allows them to jump 7-8 divisions in 30 days on to the LAC..while we would match that with just 4 divisions perhaps in the same time given the laggard infra.

So yes, immediate stationing of troops can balance out the equation, FOR NOW! In the long run, nope, until the infrastructure projects are not completed by 2020 as projected we'll always have to be clever.

Oh and 8 divisions did make a difference last time, or do you think we liberated your nation and gave you freedom while leaving our flank unsecured? We rushed in those divisions back in 71 into the NE and the Chinese behaved despite all promises to your western cousins to the contrary.

Not that this is surprising, a lack of comprehension of military matters is the hallmark of posters who conflate the genealogy of their leaders with military issues.:omghaha: Or as @arp2041 would say Joy Bangla!! :D

Not 30000 troops rather 45000 troops AND it is a temporary solution.

If someone is planning to offset the infrastructure built by the PRC in Xizang with just men and divisions over the long run then they are severely mistaken.

Short border intrusions that melt away are not a threat to India nor can China opt for vertical envelopment (Xizang doesn't provide the required jump points) as before BUT if they decide to fight a short high intensity conflict with us right at the LAC..and IF it draws out over a month then ALL the advantages will be in their hands..a trend which will persist for at least the following 5-6 years.

India government still lives in their own world, and don't know what another side think about, just like a one side war.
And put army on boundary??? The WWI and WWII style war

China's military budget is primarily planned for our own defense and india is not our major focus even though incapable cheerleaders keep us always in confrontation and making provocative headlines on numerous times!

its plain and simple. india cant compete with china on any level. the sooner they get it in their head the better.
if china and india were to got to war today india would be defeated within 6 months i think. the chinese are overwhelmingly
bigger in numbers and the quality of everything they have is far better then india and the best part is that they can produce everything themselves pretty much.
china would be inside indian while india won't even be able to cross the border into china its just that simple.
