Animal Buying-Eid ul Azha


Time of Festival of Sacrificing and the Excitement of the Animal Buying

The animal buying occurs in Pakistan at very large scale at the time of Eid-ul-Azha because in Eid-ul-Azha animals are sacrificed in the name of God by worldwide Muslims, it is a festival of Muslims.

The animal buying happens in almost every city of Pakistan because Pakistan is a Muslim country so ever Muslim needs to do this sacrificing if he can afford the animal. The major markets of animals where The animal buying takes place lies in the city of Karachi, Bahawalpur, Manghopir, Hyderabad, Sukkur and few more cities of Pakistan. The animal market of Karachi is situated at Sohrabgoth and it is called Sohrabgoth Mandi. In all other cities of Pakistan the place of the animal buying is called by the name of the city.

In Sohrab Goth Mandi of Karachi only cows, bulls and few buffaloes are available where as the place where goats are available is called Bakra Mandi and it is just near Sohrab Goth Mandi. Then there is also Ounth Mandi where camels are sold for the sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha. And it all depends what the buyer can afford and in what Halal animal he is interested for the sacrifice. In these markets when the animal buying is taking place then the animal’s age is told according to the front teeth of the animal. If there are 2 teeth in front then it shows that the animal is bit young and can be sacrificed, if 4 teeth are in the front then the animal is bit old but can be sacrificed, if there are 6 teeth in the front then it shows that the animal is pretty old for the sacrifice and 8 teeth represents the oldest animal. The sacrifice is not allowed of the animal with less than 2 teeth.
