Bajwa urges govt to expand tax base in order to break 'begging bowl'

Amazing thing neither any military ruler when was in power increase tax base. What we can say... the pot calling the kettle black..

.
Sorry Mr bajwa common Pak already paying enough taxes more than thier income from tooth pastes to cars and homes you can't put all burden on public every time better you catch the corrupt people who loot our taxes it is completely unaware acceptable now army has to take a simple long awaited decision to bring looted money back otherwise army has no right to ask for more taxes

They want expanded tax collection so we can pay our debt snd become a secure society

The seminar where COAS was talking was about the connection of economy to security

I dont know why everybody is getting excited about a obvious logical statement
Sorry coas should focus on catching the looters first of taxes if we pay taxes and coas don't take any action against looters

Example

It is like filling to broken cooler with more water will end up gaining nothing in cooler

You know the problem is when military was in power they didnt increase the tax base. And they ruled almost. I totally agree with him that we should increase our tax base but can Military is ready to include Chinese and any Foreign companies to come into tax base. Why CPEC allows Chinese to exempt from taxes. We need that tax money too.

.
Now the question arises that how much contribution army have done to our economy? they are highly involved in every matter, so why not contributing more in pakistan's economy rather then pushing government to put more tax burden on civilians.

It is not domain of Armed forces. They shou;d mind their own job. It is so simple. Why they are crossing their limits?

.
As an army chief he is not supposed to say this in the open.

. . .
or just stop begging. do with whatever money in hands.

These are in-direct taxes....A burden on average Pakistanis because those with resources in Pakistan are not willing to pay their fair share.

Bajwa is talking about those tax evaders ( tajir biraderi-waderahs) and bringing their income under the tax net.

Once you regulate the income of those folks in direct taxes, the state wouldn't have to balance things out by taxing you through in-direct taxes.

not going to work it all comes down to all fashioned currency with no atm banks accounts, just strictly old fashion currency, that to gold and silver. no more nawaz/ zardari digital transfer. it back to the old ways. if they are going to wash it then they must buy land or properties etc within the country.

Pakistani qaum is beqoof and chor minded. kind of remind me of pagans who don't change their old habits after converting to diff religion.

tax run economy will never be business friendly and always discourage foreign investment industrial growth and employment generation .it is only short term benefit but for long term we should provide tax rebates to attract foreign investment and industrial growth.these generals have no knowledge of economy and they only look on achieving short term goals which are damaging for nation in long run.zia and musharaf are examples

what about reducing taxes for those businesses that are providing a good amount of charity for the poor.
some businesses can do for example buy my product 2 % percent goes to Pakistani disabled education or food etc.
or Saturday lunch 1 hour free food for those in need.

Because our elected politicians are so corrupt, incompetent and worthless

yes this is very good idea and i personally fully support your view.the problem with excessive taxes is that industrialist transfer their burdento buyers of their
goods by increasing price or by reducing quality of goods which for daily use products badly affect common man

yes i agree with you. the problem with increase in tax is that industrialists transfer their burden by increasing price of their product or by reducing quality of products and decreasing benefits for their employees which for daily use products badly affect public

Same goes for the army generals. I am sick of hearing everthing happens because of politicians. Army ruled for 34 years, what did they do to curb corruption? The army itself has institutionalised corruption, they are not saints.
the generals also not pay any tax on their income and pensions
