DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — A police officer in Bahrain has been shot dead in an attack claimed by a Shiite militant group.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said Sunday that 1st Lt. Hisham Hassan Mohammed al-Hamadi was killed in what it described as a “terrorist act.”

The Ashtar Brigade, a Shiite militant group that has claimed a number of bombings and attacks in the tiny Gulf nation, claimed responsibility in a statement on social media. The Associated Press could not immediately verify the post, though it came in a forum often used by the group.

Bahrain is the middle of a crackdown on dissent at a level unseen since its 2011 uprising, in which the island’s Shiite majority called for greater political rights from the Sunni-ruled kingdom.

Such actions will diminish the possibility of a peaceful solution due to a minority of Shia Bahrainis choosing the "militant" option that will give them nothing but misery and defeat.

Shias in Bahrain are not an overwhelming majority (nowadays they form 60% of the local population) and any "all-out" tactic employed by them in order to remove the regime and install some utopian Wilayat al-Faqih Islamic Mullah regime hellhole, will be met by an iron fist. By the government, most of the citizens, expats, KSA next door (alone that will prevent such a crime to ever occur), GCC, other Arab states, the US/West etc.

The instigators/planners will be stripped of their citizenship as well, face long-term jail sentences and in worst case scenario executions as already occurred recently.

Now due to such terrorism, legitimate grievances that not only Shia Bahrainis but also Sunni Bahrainis and everyone else have, will risk being ignored and labelled as terrorism. Exactly what Al-Assad did but of course on a 1 million times bigger and much more brutal scale.

Never said anything else. I am just saying that such attacks could make the Bahraini government less focused/not prioritize certain reforms using security as an argument. Basically those Islamist fools are shooting themselves in the feet (if not their skulls) but this is nothing new. Wherever militant Islamists are, there is chaos. They cannot be reasoned with by large as those so-called "Islamists" operate as gangs and mafias. Nothing to do with Islam. Similar can be said about many Muslim regimes in power who operate in a similar manner.

Militant Islamists will fight any government, Islamic or non-Islamic, after that other militant Islamist factions and ultimately each other. A pattern seen far too many times.

The GCC should not tolerate ANY Islamist militant groups whatever sect that they claim to represent, much less so if they are agents of foreign states. If draconic regimes are needed to prevent that until the dumbest gene pool disappears/dies out, so be it!

Those fools have already done enough of harm.

So if you want to use Islamic law as your main source of guidance, then I'm afraid to tell you that bloodshed in this instance is actually justified in the sight of God.

Thankfully, the majority of Bahrainis don't follow Islamic/religious laws in a strict manner, otherwise Bahrain would've turned into a war zone a long, long time ago.

It's a very common Emirati and Yemeni surname, actually.

Anyway, my point was that you shouldn't use Islam to condemn the perpetrators because, if anything, Islam actually legitimizes the killing of security personnel who are considered to be mercenaries.
