BAE may cut Typhoon price to win India order

Now we get down to the nitty gritty this was always on the cards and we can expect some more hard negotiation down the road until the fat lady sings.

.
There is still a way to go, if BAE can promise in the development of a better A2G capability of the aircraft, pod and radar then I don't see any reason is to why wouldn't the MOD and IAF reconsider the deal.

LONDON: British defence company BAE Systems is looking at all options to win back a $20 billion tender with the Indian air force, the company's chief executive told the Financial Times on Tuesday.

"I will be discussing with our partners what we do next. In my view, all options are on the table," BAE Chief Executive Ian King was quoted by the FT as saying.

India preferred a bid from France's Dassault aviation last month, after competing with BAE to secure a 126 aircraft contract.

Dassault's Rafale fighter jet undercut BAE's Eurofighter Typhoon, an Indian government source told Reuters when the contract was agreed.

The FT cited King as saying BAE was considering reducing the price of the Typhoon, but needed to consult with its partners in Germany, Italy and Spain on the best options open.

now i don't see any logic in cutting doown price...

"The lost Typhoon" book....plz buy this book to financially help EADS

. .
this news will only help India to get a better bargain against Rafale.
as we can extract much more from them in the commercial negotiations.

Rafale knows that we can simply sideline them & return to EFT if the commercial negotians fail.

. .
if we allow this then other MMRCA contestants will demand it too..it will completely ruin our image...competitions are held for a reason and bidding is done for a reason...

The hell with image....India already has a crap image no offence...get more bang for the buck in my opinion...

One more desperate attempt by british to woo back India.

we are better off with Rafale, any proposed upgrades for the EFT has to go through the 4 nations and the A2G capability will not be rectified until much later in this decade. its quite a shame if EFT had better A2G capability it would have won not to mention its difficult to detect by radar so deep penetration missions would be its bread & butter but Rafale has a low RCS and way better A2G capability so we are good by picking Rafale

.
Are their any earlier instances in history of cancelling the deal after opposite party ready to give it's product in lesser prize

Good for us...it will just put more pressure on Dassault to dance on our tune........Baat manta hai ya EADS ko bulaoo......i think this the best opportunity for MoD to get the deal on their term...Milk the cow as much as you can.....

.
oh eurofighter how you are so beautiful, your air to air capability is just fine and dandy wayyyy better than the Rafale's air to air capability (not saying Rafale is a bad A2A fighter) but your air to ground capability is too rudimentary for the IAF

good heavens the rafale deal showed us the real attitude of the british public, govt officials...........bfore the announcement they were almost licking our shoes and now these colonial hatred comments.:hitwall:

Won't work. They seem to understand nothing of Indian tender rules. Negotiations can only be conducted with L1 (one with the lowest quote) and L2 or L3 don't get a look in. No one can allow L2 to quote a lower price after finalisation. That would open up everyone to inflate prices initially with the belief that they can always change it if they don't get marked as L1. Would result in utter chaos. This is simply journalistic day dreaming; I'm more than certain that BAE knows the rules. The only chance for the EF consortium is if the French badly mess this up which considering how important it is for them has little or no chance of happening.
