The one in picture are not Mi-35M, it's Indian Mi-24 upgrade.

As for Mi-35M, it's in fact a new helicopter. New engine, new composite blades same as those on Mi-28 and X-shape rotor, shorter wings, fixed landing, GEOS-342, new modern avionics, MFD's in cockpit and of course improved countermeasures against threats.

And also capability to carry new ATAKA missiles, 16 of them, aswell Igla air-to-air missiles.

Let the firepower Hind's can provide aside, Such a big and heavy airmonster would just be a good meal for SAM's and Manpads at a liklely serious conflict especially in mountainy areas.

It's exactly what happened to Azerbaijan helicopter fleet in their last war with Armenia. I bet Russia had that in mind when they sold them to Azerbaijan.

We are supposed to be getting 30 of those. 30Mi-35s + 94 Apaches..... And 70 Armed black hawks along with 36 AH-6s. Thats not bad I guess.

Anyways I always had a soft spot for the Hind.
