5 to 10 is far too early. Both the human and material losses on Armenia's side are far too great. With now a severely weakened economy, due to the war, they'll have trouble recovering.

Armenia needs more than a decade to recover fully, and another to get to a level that they can win against Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's capabilities are only gonna get better, and with its land returned (along with natural resources), its economy is only gonna get stronger.

This deal definitely puts AZE in a hugely dominant position, the opportunity to develop large amounts of land and access to large new water and mining resources. Access to naxivan is good for the reasons you state. I didn’t think of that.

I just wanted total victory. and it’s. A miracle that russia allowed even this.

but it’s a good lesson for turkey that nukes make a huge difference and take you to the next level. Erdogan knows this, and it’s up to him to decide where to take turkey.

If Russian aggression against Turkey ever reaches a boiling point, and the US doesn't help Turkey in any capacity, I can totally see Turkey developing nukes.

But before it can, it must first ensure its economy is far larger and stronger than it currently is.

I am still amazed by the ARM bravado for years! A nation whose majority population actually prefers to live OUTSIDE of that country, a nation bordered by two much more powerful hostile nations (Turkey and AZE), a nation which was fingering Russia in the hope of getting full Western backing, and a nation which missed no opportunity to malign Turkey, constantly drumbeating the 'genocide' from a century ago.. this tiny nation has ambitions far beyond its capabilities. Basically, its a nation which has been counting on either the West or Russia to to fight for it while offering back not much natural or human resources. It's an amazing hubris!! Some delusions of grandeur on this scale I can't find in any other country in the world!!

Perhaps you have found an example of a hubris even worse than that of the Armenians!!

But to give due credit: ARM is a proper 'nation' with a deep history and many binding factors--far more than the modern Afghans are. Even since I have been following the Afghan history: From late 1970s onwards--this faction or that faction. Always wanting some foreign power to support their claim to Kabul. It's their own failure--Pakistan can, at worst, be only partly blamed for that. Oh well... I don't want to derail the thread.

A tweet above led me to the link posted below. So the departing Armenians slaughtered even animals??!! I can't watch this video--too heart breaking. If this is true then I can't imagine what kind of cruel people did this?!! But then--by repeating that Turkey brought 'terrorists' from Syria the Armenians had taken war for land into a 'civilizational war', as Pashinyan himself said some weeks ago. Anything is possible with such a mindset!

I don't know what will it take me to think of these departing Armenians as human beings. Perhaps, as a nation, Armenia itself is a disgusting place!! I hate to say such words--a few weeks ago I had posted on this forum that perhaps there can be an enclave for ethnic Armenians inside AZE but bordering ARM. I retract my position now that I see how ugly these people are!! The departing Armenian are taking advantage of the extended period to leave to burn down houses and kill innocent ANIMALS?!! Makes my blood boil!!

Total victory was about to occur and Armenians were fleeing, but then their big brother Russia intervened. The negotiation has been ongoing for awhile. Eventually, the treaty was signed. Had the war continued with Russia doing the majority of the fighting on the Armenian side, it would've been much different while no one would've known its outcome and its impact on Azerbaijan.

So the Azerbaijani govt insisted from the beginning that they want the 7 regions under their control including Shusha. Aliyev have always made that very clear. He also offered a cultural autonomy to the Armenians in Karabagh.

Under this agreement, the 7 regions are coming back to Azerbaijan including Shusha. That objective was met. That itself proves the success of the war from the Azerbaijani side.

For the remaining parts in Karabagh, which the Russians are providing "peacekeeping force," the treaty states the two nations, Azerbaijan and Armenia, should negotiate on its final outcome in addition to the territorial connection between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan autonomous Republic. This is what the land corridors all about. If Armenia wants to have direct connection to Karabagh, they should accept direct connection between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan autonomous Republic.

Another good thing about this treaty: The war ended before Biden takes over. He's made known his dislike of President Erdogan before the election. The pro-Armenian sentiment is also very strong within the Democratic party. Some of the high-ranking figures within this party, such as Adam Schiff, were calling for what they call "the Recognition of Artsakh". Biden himself promised that he'll recognize the 'Armenian Genocide' at the national level. So anti Turkey, pro-Armenia preposition is very strong within the Democratic party. Trump was, at least, neutral in this conflict. So ending the war before Biden administration takes over was a good thing for Azerbaijan.
