Featured Azerbaijan Armenian War

Wether Russia gren lighted it or not is irrelevant by now . But the reality on the ground is Russia dictated the term for everybody be it Armenian or Azeris . While putin do borrowed Aliyev's to smack some sense in pashinyan head at the end of the day it was the russian also who preserve what was left of Armenians be it dignity or militarily and nothing could stop him !!! Do you think Turkey will be eager butting head with Putin by this point ?? While some shady agreement do been cooked up in somewhere all but was within Ivan's red line ...
You might believe otherwise but even with NATO behind Turkey ( that's too in question !! ) nobody , even Erdogen was eager to butting head with the mad Ivan !! Crimea , Georgia and Armenia was their satelite fences . And nobody was get away scoot free from touching those . Even if the mad dog has one feet within the grave ....

The battle was going on in Azerbaijan recognized zone which meant Russia couldn't intervene on behalf of Armenia because the defense treaty won't be activate in that way. Russia only protects proper Armenia.

Azerbaijan offered something similar to Armenia where they concede 7 districts to avoid the conflict to begin with but they denied and Azerbaijan gained even more now.

If Azerbaijan's sovereignty is put at risk you can bet on turkey intervention militarily it doesn't matter who it is against the US or Russia. Azerbaijan's Sovereignty is irrevocable it would be like an attack on proper Turkey.

This is what I have been saying from the beginning Ilham Aliyev knew what he was doing that he had an absolute impunity he outsmarted Pashin. He knew Azerbaijan's sovereignty was irrevocable

I am not saying Turkey is as strong as Russia but strong enough to have veto rights in the region and Russia nor Turkey would risk conflict against each other for such small price like NK. Both would just avoid each other in such a scenario. Turkey is also NATO member and has alliance with Pakistan so it has friends with Nuclear power who would come to it's aid

Peace keepers will remain for 5 years. Plenty of time for the Azeri to build an even stronger force.
The time is more on Armenian side than Azeri side. Azeri already had much stronger force with new technologies like drones. It's Armenia who wants to win time to modernize its army the coming 5 years. Will they do that? Do they have enough funds? if not, they willed be rolled over again because technology is one of the important factors to win a war.
However by bringing in Russian peacekeepers, the question is what will happen if one of the parties, lets say Azerbayjan, does not agree with the 5-year extension of Russian peacekeepers? Will Russian peacekeepers then leave so that the war restarts?
The best solution for the region is that the ceasefire turns into permanent peace and even opening of borders and trade between Armenia and its neighbours Turkey and Azerbayjan.

This. I don't think either we will see any other provocations nor wars from this region. specifically from the Armenian side if they were to initiate a war lets say 15-20 years down the road it would only activate Turkey's defense treaty with Azerbaijan and they would be a hostile country breaking the UN border treaty which makes them aggressors they could find themselves in a war with Turkey which is a policy Yerevan would never pursue at any point down the road where the costs would outweigh the benefits 1 to 1000...

Turkey, Russia sign agreement to jointly monitor Karabakh truce

The agreement covers a joint Turkish-Russian monitoring centre that will oversee the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, says Turkish President Erdogan.

Turkey and Russia have signed an agreement establishing a joint centre to monitor the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh and the two countries will work together there.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the announcement on Wednesday in a speech to deputies from his governing Justice and Development (AK) Party in Parliament.

Earlier, the Russian military announced that some of its peacekeeping troops deployed to Nagorno-Karabakh had reached the region. The troops are there under a deal undersigned by Russia that halted six weeks of fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Erdogan said Armenia's 28-year occupation in Nagorno-Karabakh was ending.

Erdogan said his country is ready to do whatever is needed for the region's peace, security, and confidence, adding that Karabakh's quick peace process can be replicated in Syria as well.

Road to link mainland with Nakhchivan exclave

"A road will be constructed to connect Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Region," Erdogan said.

The Turkish president also congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people over the liberation of territories from Armenia's occupation.

Relations between the ex-Soviet republics have been tense since 1991 when the Armenian military occupied the region, a territory recognised as part of Azerbaijan.

Fresh clashes erupted on September 27, and continued for 44 days. Both sides accused the other of violating several ceasefires. Azerbaijan accused Armenian forces of attacking residential areas and killing civilians.

Baku retook several cities and nearly 300 settlements and villages from Armenian occupation during this time.

On November 10, the two countries signed a Russia-brokered agreement to end fighting and work towards a comprehensive solution.

Turkey has welcomed the truce, which is a result of Baku's military successes and has given it an upper hand over Yerevan to resolve the three-decade-long dispute.

Don't see much celebration in Moscow, the real winner. It killed many birds with one stone;
-Current Armenian government lost all it's credibility. Very soon pro-Moscow regime may return.
- Karabach and other parts of Azerbaijan(corridor) will now be permanently under Russian control. Asking Russian so-called peace keepers to leave may lead to full scale invasion of Azerbaijan itself. Russian occupation won't end any time soon. Not that of a bright future for Azerbaijan. They shouldn't have allowed Russians in their territory and signed this half baked deal.

how did Russia manage to enter this area? was Azerbaijan sleeping ?

Turkey should give Russia a hard slap and tell them to get out

Pakistan should teach Russia another lesson like it did during the Afghanistan campaign of 1980s

Russia helicopter was downed then Russia sent "peace keepers" which peace keepers carry so much weapons

those peace keepers do look very strange

Exactly, AZ traded being occupied by ARM soldiers which they can shoot at. To Russian occupiers which they can never shoot at. Better to give NK to ARM than have Russians in AZ. This sets the stage for AZ being annexed by Russia. Chechens did not do the Moscow Apartment Bombing. Those were staged by the FSB.

Chechens were free until the false flag terror attack.

Russia simply needs to have an AZ false flag in the next 100 years and have the Russian tanks roll in. Russia is already occupying part of AZ. This is as stupid as Palestinian Arabs trading being occupied by the Turks, to siding with GB in WWI with Lawrence of Arabia whose empire sent in zionists to occupy Palestine. Zionists want Palestine. Turks were better opponents for Arabs. zionists and russians have no love or respect for Caucasians (Palestinians and Azeris). Russia wants AZ.

Russia's plan is to annex AZ, why else would a Russian helicopter be there on the border when they claimed they were not to get involved.

The whole war was stupid. This ending is disastrous.

What the heck was a Russian helicopter doing in on the front line of a warzone between AZ and ARM. That reveals the intentions of Russia against AZ.
Russia like armenia is dying
Its population shrinking
Occupy lands with what
You need people

Azeris are happy to take 7 regions without more blood and half of NK.
They can repopulate the area
With respect to military they will always be superior

Now remember not every one is like pakistan where soldiers die in dozen and noone cares

Has anyone clarified if the Armenian part of NK is to be regarded as "Azerbaijan territory that is under autonomous control of Armenians" (akin to the serbska republic in Northern Bosnia i believe), or is it actually owned by Yerevan? If ethnic Armenians keep autonomous status in officially recognized Azerbaijan territory, then it's a total victory for Baku. Let them have token autonomy, like those Serbs in Bosnia.

If however, it remains Yerevan controlled, then actually I'm confused because it is STILL occupied as per the UN and whole world's definition! This would be a bizarre status quo and almost seems unresolved.
Not really
The agreement has an expiration date
And azeris have right to go back and populate the area..which means baku can throw money at it

is Azerbaijan withdrawing to pre-war border?

I think it's safe to assume there are alot of trolls on this thread We have had alot of mis-reportings, circulating of false maps and unrealistic political reality on the ground narratives being spewed.

1. No Azerbaijan will not withdraw to pre-war border it keeps what it has gained plus it gets additional regions.

2. Russia and Turkey will only monitor the peace is kept here as peacekeepers. Contrary to what some trolls are saying Russia is deployed at the contact line to deconflict they are not a warring side in this.

3. Everything Azerbaijan has gained and granted it will fall under Azerbaijani authority which is roughly 85-90% of the contested area.

4. Azerbaijan's sovereignty is irrevocable hence it has defense treaty with Turkey and non-negotiable.

Azerbaijan has meet 85-90% of it's objectives plus got an access to it's land-locked region on the east and access from Baku to Istanbul which means they won't have to pay taxes in order to trade with Turkey since everything will go direct. Both Istanbul and Baku has closed this chapter successfully and satisfied with the deal

According to Reis Erdo'an's public announcement at his party's weekly meeting:
  • Turkish soldiers will be stationed inside Karabag' as per the agreements signed b/w Turkey and Russia
  • Turkish and Russian peace-keepers will work together to maintain peace. They'll build a joint observation and control center
  • Nahchivan will be connected to the AZ mainland via a newly constructed road

Wish Azerbaijan kept going for a few more weeks and it would have been all over for Armenians

NK still being controlled by armenians is still recognised as Azerbaijan.

Nothing has changed. Russians are simply there to monitor the ceasefire.

They are there only for 5 years after that either Azerbijan or Armenians of NK can request them to leave.

The idea here is that final status talks should conclude in the next 5 years. There is no conceivable way any territory will be passed to yerevan..... the armenians on only what they now control may get some autonomy but inside azerbijan.

Armenians have lost comprehensively. Azerbaijanis will maintain military edge and will also repopulate their territory. The can wait for the last bits of NK.

Putin is on record saying turks wont participate in peacekeeping....so no boots on ground.

However there would a joint monitoring centre to be set up somewhere where russians and turks will co-operate.

Whilst azerbijan wants turkish involvement the russians do not.

Lets see how things pans out.
