Here are a few of the world's leading attack helicopters:
Bell AH-1Z Viper
The Bell AH-1Z Viper (also called "SuperCobra") is a twin-engine attack helicopter based on the AH-1W SuperCobra, that was developed for the United States Marine Corps. The AH-1Z features a four-blade, bearingless, composite main rotor system, uprated transmission, and a new target sighting system.
Mil Mi-24/35 Hind
The Mil Mi-24 (Cyrillic Миль Ми-24, NATO reporting name "Hind") is a large helicopter gunship and low-capacity troop transport produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and operated from 1972 by the Soviet Air Force, its successors, and over thirty other nations.
In NATO circles the export versions, Mi-25 and Mi-35, are simply denoted with a letter suffix as "Hind D" and "Hind E" respectively. Soviet pilots called the aircraft летающий танк (letayushchiy tank, flying tank). More common unofficial nicknames were Крокодил (Krokodil, Crocodile), due to the helicopter's new camouflage scheme [1] and Стакан (Stakan, Glass), because of the flat glass plates which surrounded the three place cockpit of the Hind A version.
Kamov Ka-52 Hokum-B
During the late-1990s, Kamov and Israeli Air Industries developed a tandem-seat cockpit version, the Kamov Ka-50-2 Erdogan (Turkish for "Born Warrior"), to compete in Turkey's attack helicopter competition. Kamov later designed another two-seat variant, the Kamov Ka-52 Alligator (NATO reporting name: "Hokum B").
Mil Mi-28 Havoc
The Mil Mi-28 (NATO reporting name "Havoc") is a Russian all-weather day-night military tandem two-seat anti-armour attack helicopter. It is a dedicated attack helicopter with no intended secondary transport capability, better optimized than the Mil Mi-24 for the anti-tank role. It carries a single gun in an undernose barbette, plus external loads carried on pylons beneath stub wings.
Mi-28N/MMW Havoc - All weather day-and-night combat helicopter. It is equipped with a top-mounted millimeter wave radar station, IR-TV, and laser ranger. Serial Mi-28N will have two TV3-117V MA-SB3 engines (2500 hp each), made by the Ukrainian Motor-Sich. Max take off weight of 11500 kg, max payload weight of 2350 kg.
AH-64 Apache
The AH-64 Apache is an all-weather day-night military attack helicopter with a four-bladed main and tail rotor and a crew of two pilots who sit in tandem. The main fixed armament is a 30 mm M230 Chain Gun under the aircraft's nose. It can also carry a mixture of AGM-114 Hellfire and Hydra 70 rocket pods on four hard points mounted on its stub-wing pylons. The AH-64 is the principal attack helicopter of the United States Army, and a successor to the AH-1 Cobra.
The Apache was designed by Hughes Helicopters in response to the Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter program. McDonnell Douglas purchased Hughes Helicopters and continued the development of the AH-64 resulting in the AH-64D Apache Longbow which is currently produced by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. United States Army AH-64s have been in action in Panama, Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Agusta A129 Mangusta
The Agusta A129 Mangusta (Mongoose) (AW129 from June 2007) is an attack helicopter manufactured by Agusta (part of AgustaWestland) of Italy. It is the first attack helicopter to be designed and produced wholly in Western Europe. A developed version, the T129, will be produced in Turkey by TAI for the Turkish Army.
Eurocopter Tiger
The Eurocopter Tiger (company designation EC 665) is an attack helicopter manufactured by Eurocopter. In Germany it is known as the Tiger; in France and Spain it is called the Tigre.
Denel AH-2 Rooivalk
The Denel AH-2 Rooivalk (previously designated CSH-2) is a modern attack helicopter manufactured by Denel Aerospace Systems of South Africa. Rooivalk is Afrikaans for "Red Kestrel".[2]
The South African Air Force (SAAF) has ordered 12 Rooivalk AH-2As, the first of which entered service in July 1999. The helicopters are flown by 16 Squadron, which is based at AFB Bloemspruit near Bloemfontein.
"DUDE" still you dont get to the my point?
btw its your wish list, not mine ! AH-1F ---> (if possible, they should be upgraded with Ah-1Z avionics)
most of "AH-1F" are old enough, to carry out more missions in thew comming future, IS that right, we keep spending our money on old, birds like "AH-1F" ?
F-16s become , a "holy cow" to pakistanis, who cant see any other , plateform, check out our enemy! which have a lot of different kind of mixed plateforms?
also, who said to you , i am saying to dump all "AH-1F" , what we have!
all i said , is we should start looking for some other plateforms like "AW129 Multi-Role Combat Helicopters", let me inform you that , surly it wont cost as you had thinked over, (12-13 million dollars ), plz stop thinking about that my! dear "DUDE", CHECK IT OUT frist, then open it ?
any how, comming US adminstration is thinking to attack pakistan, and "CANDY DUDES" like you , still keep thinking about the old days!
Wake up "CANDY DUDE", so in comming future, pakistan have to look forward, not only just "CHINESE PLATEFORMS" but other systems from countries like ITALY, slowly we have to shift our , reliance on USA!
for very reason , we have to get some "EUROPEAN" air combat systems, like
"AW129 "because, there would not be many options, once we getout of US burning train, from "EUROPE", ONLY ITALY OR FRANCE, could be our new main hitech , militry suppliers? MY DEAR "CANDY DUDE" HOPE YOU GET N THE POINT?
