Aviation Boom in India and Pakistan

exactly they should simply stop comparing India with Pakistan. Why the heck cant they compare with world standards?

And icing on the cake is whopping unjustified airport tax as compared to the services provided.
Be happy you got less tax, it is one way of taxing the rich who use airports. Why should common man pay for the airports which he does not use?

India has more taxes than any where else,in fact taxes nearly make up 50% of airfare. If the taxes are removed the fare becomes cheaper as first class rail fare.

Nearly 15 million international passengers flew in and out of Pakistan in fiscal year 2016-17. This number is about a quarter of the 59 million international passengers who flew to and from India in roughly the same period, according to data available from the aviation authorities of the two South Asian countries. India's population is about six and a half times larger than Pakistan's.


Yes in domestic travel the Indian passengers traveling percentile is higher...India has seen its domestic air travel market soar to 117 million passengers versus Pakistan's 7.2 million in 2017.

if you look at $100 to $35 dollar difference then it seems more Pakistanis can afford $100 tickets than Indian as compared to population

The Indian aviation sector is growing at an average annual rate of 15-20 percent. Our aviation industry is booming with airlines buying 1000 of new aircrafts worth billions of dollars. Recently jet airways bought 75 boeing 737 for $8.8 bn.

Sorry, I bed to differ. If you use the currency conversion. $100 will be something above 10k Pakistan rupee whereas $35 will be only around 2.5 K Indian rupees. The reason why the India has a robust and way more profitable domestic market.

In Pakistan you only take a flight if you are flying from Karachi to Islamabad/Punjab/Peshawar or vice versa. You would be incredibly stupid to take a flight within Islamabad-Punjab because all major population centers are just 3-6 hours away by car on world class highways.



The situation is not the same in India. You cannot drive from Delhi to Chennai or Kolkata. Or you would be incredibly stupid to do so. Hence the need for more air travel. Nothing to do with Indians being "richer" when the per capita incomes of both countries are within the same spectrum.

Yes, several passengers were fell sick due in mid-air.
The reason behind it was that the crew forgot to maintain the cabin pressure due to which the passengers fell sick and also several complained of a headache.
On Thursday morning, the Jaipur-bound Jet Airways flight 9W 0697 took off from Mumbai airport.
The cabin crew forgot to select the bleed switch during the take-off. Due to an imbalance in the temperature inside the flight, passengers started feeling dizzy and sick.
"Thirty out of 166 passengers experienced nose and ear bleeding, some also complained of a headache," informed news agency ANI.

Well an important factor that everyone is ignoring is the patterns of travel in Pakistan. Pakistan only have two major Urban centers.
Central Punjab and Karachi.
Nobody travels in central Punjab via Air cause it doesn't make any sense. Not even the wealthiest. Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot etc.
Islamabad is also not far away from central Punjab, its an easy comfortable car ride again thanks to Excellent Motorway.
Baluchistan is not much populated and there isn't much traveling their.
Even Peshawar is not that far.
Most people take air travel only when they have to fly to Karachi from Punjab or Pishawar or Vice versa.

I mean imagine the pain you have to take to travel by air from one city to other that are just 3 hours drive on a world class highway where most middle income people own cars and Public transport is also good enough in the form of Executive Buses.

India on the other hand is massive. Imagine someone have to travel from Delhi to Calcutta or From Mumbai to Chandigarh. Any comparison of this sort is simply stupid.
Such high demand of long traveling is the real cause of boost in Aviation industry as compared to Low demands in Pakistan. I think plus the obvious fact India have much bigger economy then Pakistan.

Pakistan's obsession with owning state owned PIA ( and many other Industries) is whats keeping the industry from evolving.
Simple flat fact.
