So uninterested in this exercise. The Russians make good planes but their tactics are rarely as refined or developed as their Western counterparts and the Russians hardly have industry best practices to impart to the Indian Mil. It is much better for Indian forces to train with Western nations.

"Archaic" and unprofessional are words that spring to mind when I think of the Russian Military I'm afraid.

Russians keep the best of it for itself, like everybody else !

those su-27s of theirs is quite a match for our su30s. their problem is of another nature buddy ! money.

do not take them to be incompetent. putin has brought russian military to the 21st century. bit by bit. and it is still continuing.

Why MiG21s & Mi-35 when we are already in a process of retiring both the aircraft?

Because the Russians hadn't brought their own SUs and helos.

And I think the MKIs were undergoing a grounding and inspection check when they came.

Then what exactly were they training for? What I gather from the pics are just strafing exercise, using MiGs and Mi35, and I am sure these are the most basic tasks for a MiG21 and Mi35. The MiGs and Mi35 have been with IAF since ages and IAF pilots as well as Russian pilots must be already proficient with simple ground attack tasks like strafing. So what could they have trained for, tactics? And why were the MiG29 and MiG27 missing in action. This doesnt seem to be a serious exercise at all.

It is right that Russian-Indian relation hit with some issues .But still Russia remains as our major partner .I wish it will be always like that in future.
