No, the scale of the disaster is such that the logistics needed are simply not possible.

The recovery operation is working as best as it can given the logistical constraints.

+ Normally after fresh snow fall the ice is soft - and also when digging is done immediately its very easy to dig thru
+ Also Transportation of heavy cranes and bulldozers , could have been done sonner if we had 100 helicopters with 20 heavy lifting
to bring in trucks with chemical sprays to melt the ice , heck even just bring flame throwers
+ Also we could have transported 10,000-15,000 troops immediately to zone to commence digging using helicopters

What we did in 4 days we could have done in may be half day if we had a `plan`to handle such events and resources

Or how about plain old melting of ice with chemicals

Well Einstein how exactly do you plan to feed those ten thousand men in addition to giving them a roof. That is about a whole division you are talking about moving there. Who would have handled the air traffic of a hundred helis? And mi 26 with hundred men cannot go that highso stop posting those pictures. There are usually only one or two ways or pathways through which you can go through a heli and that is a valley. And radars don't work there, it's plain old maps and charts and visual markings that help you navigate. And mostly bad weather gives only a small window of flight time.

In short, stop being critical of something you have a limited idea about and stop making up wrong hypothesises

they land the helicopters switch to supply and fueling missions after assets are delivered

I would like to assume that our soldiers are trained for quick deployment

After moving assets , the helicopters can focus on bringing in food and supplies
and bring in fuel

Well yes its hard when you have 60's french helicopters but if we had 100-200 helicopters very simple operation

PS Don't associate me with a fake scientist created by lobby I would have appreciated if you called me Mr Abdul Qadeer Khan

lol no radars or electronics plain charts and compass yeah right ... how retro is that shows how inefficient our operation is no GPS no operational awareness nothing we see a "situation" our response time is like weeks

No wonder India has doctrine for quick response and retaliation now against pakistan knowing how slow our response time is to crisis

Mars rovers emit GPS signals from surface of Mars and they can be tracked and here we can't track anyone in 10 days ... we need to rethink alot of things last year it was Navy Attack and this year its army base in Himalayas

No plan to get needed equipment from China or Europe etc

Like even skiers who go to mountains and mountain climbers have GPS signal emitters etc

However the spirit of Army has to be respected that with limited resources the soliders are working hard to recover comrades but we need to fix our limitations

You simply cannot get 200 hundred helicopters in that area. PERIOD.

Ever wonder why the Indian helicopter got lost a few months back, and landed on Pakistani post???

Quick deployment is something else, moving a whole brigade into SIachen in two days is something else, especially when a natural calamity like this hits.

Rally expresses solidarity with snow-trapped soldiers

Hyderabad—A group of youth took out a rally here on Sunday expressing solidarity and support for Pakistan Army’s soldiers who are trapped by an avalanche in Siachen area.

Staged through the platform of Pakistan Youngsters Association, the rally’s young participants chanted slogans showering praise on the army for defending the country on land, sea and air.

“No other army in the world is so strong to guard the world’s highest battlefield in the most inclement weather,” said Kashif Ali while addressing the participants of the rally.

Kamran Khanzada, another participant, encouraged the youth to join the country’s military to defend its geographical integrity, noting that Pakistan was confronted with multiple challenges in that regard.The participants in their slogans also expressed support for the families of the trapped soldiers and prayed to the Almighty for their safety. Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists on Saturday organised a candle light vigil at Shahrah-e-Faisal, near PTI Sindh secretariat to express solidarity with victims of Siachen incident. A larger number of people, including innocent children, lighted candles for the victims and their families. On the occasion, special prayers were also offered for the Pakistan Army, particularly for those soldiers who were affected and those performing their duties in Siachen. PTI Sindhi president Sardar Nadir Akmal Khan Laghari said that entire nation was praying for Pakistan Army. He said that Pakistan Army had made outstanding services and sacrifices for the defence and integrity of Pakistan.

He further said that Pakistani nation was united and stands shoulder to shoulder with their soldier brothers.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement appealed to the nation to pray for the soldiers of the Pakistan Army trapped in a military complex buried under about 80 feet of snow in Siachen.

Update Avalanche Clearance at Gayari Sector Siachen

Search and rescue Operation at Gayari continues round the clock even against heavy odds. The weather remained very harsh and posing serious challenges to the men and machines working at the avalanche site alike.
However, the spirit and zeal of courageous soldiers has not wavered under arduous conditions. In fact, the urge to help their mates stuck under avalanche has given them newfound resilience. The skies have been continuously showering flakes of snow.
The rescue work is being carried out at full speed with sufficient number of plant equipment. The exasperating work at the tunnel being dug in the compact snow of avalanche, needed to access a suspected structure to find survivors, has made good progress by using control use of explosives. A team of German and Swiss rescuers is also rendering useful help in conforming already available data to locate the survivors. Meanwhile, the excavation work continued at three other sites to search survivors. Similarly, some engineer’s effort was also dedicated to widen outflow of water channel, which had been blocked by the avalanche
