Aren't these camps concrete structures? If yes, then atleast those indoors should have a chance of survival.

Its a pity our young troops are put in such perilous positions only because we have no trust. This should end. Lets just have some joint observers on both the sides, that way even despite the lack of trust we can reduce the no of troops drastically.

Manmohan Singh has offered Indian help in resuing Pakistan troops in Siachen, donno whether Zardari agreed.

.
India offered help after the earthquake, was that offer accepted? What sort of help did the IA provide at that time, if any?

. . .
US has also condoned this accident. And COAS has said that efforts are being put in to get more complex machinery from somewhere. So, I expect the US to chip in as well. We could need it.

My hunch proved right in one of my previous posts, the slide did indeed come form the small ridge pointed out earlier. And the snow has mud and sand mixed in between, so the chances of the snow getting totally compact and like a slush are low.

BTW, good to see the COAS being there, the morale of the search team gets high from that.

Can anybody now call the helpline number and get info...

India offered IAF helicopters with pilots and personnel but the offer was denied, as pilots and personnel were going to come too which would get data of sites of Pakistan.

Given low temperatures and the grave attendant risk of hypothermia, is it still a Search & Rescue operation, or has it been changed to a Recovery operation?
