A UN report found that autonomous drones armed with explosive devices may have “hunted down” fleeing rebel fighters in Libya last year. If true, the report chronicles the world’s first true robot-on-human attack.
According to the report, anti-government Libyan National Army fighters, under military commander Khalifa Haftar, were retreating last March following an unsuccessful attack on Tripoli, when they ran into a swarm of terrifying aerial opponents.

They were “hunted down” by unmanned drones, as well as “lethal autonomous weapons systems,” the latter of which can be programmed by controllers to seek out and attack targets, and carry out these instructions even if communications with the controllers are severed.

God damn Turkey you cold hearted.. No wonder Hafter and co retreated they ran into a horror incident and also the first laser weapon ever was used in Libya

On 27 March 2020, [...] Logistics convoys and retreating HAF were subsequently hunted down and
remotely engaged by the unmanned combat aerial vehicles or the lethal autonomous
weapons systems such as the STM Kargu-2 (see annex 30) and other loitering munitions.

The lethal autonomous weapons systems were programmed to attack targets without
requiring data connectivity between the operator and the munition: in effect, a true “fire,
forget and find” capability.

The unmanned combat aerial vehicles and the small drone
intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability of HAF were neutralized by
electronic jamming from the Koral electronic warfare system

What is so scary is that this machines don't know about mercy or someone has folded or surrendered? Despite Hafter forces retreating they were continueously targetting them..

The below is from the report:
Haftar’s fighters “were neither trained nor motivated to defend against the effective use of this new technology and usually retreated in disarray,” the report continues. While in retreat, “they were subject to continual harassment” from the killer robots.

According to STM Ceo Murat Ikinci, that Kargu has facial recognition system, suggesting it can seek out specific individuals, and its swarms is that they are too numerous to be tackled by advanced air defense systems, and can destroy a large number of targets very rapidly.[2]

Other capabilities includes:[1]

  • Day and night operations
  • Autonomous and precise hit
  • Different ammunition options
  • Tracking moving targets
  • Navigation and control algorithms
  • Deployable and operable by single person
  • In flight mission abort and emergency self-destruction

You can use it with out GPS, if ther is not GPS or jammed by enemy you will not have problem to attack your enemy.

Old test video...

Hafter's forces was a retreating force, not surrendering force. Therefore, there is no need to show mercy.

On the other hand, if they are truly fully autonomous weapons, these drones should be able to distinguish between the surrendering fighter and the non-surrendering fighter. If they are not fully autonomous, they must be under human control at every stage of the mission. Otherwise, they fall into the illegal weapon category.

I hope they have this capability, otherwise the Turkish Armed Forces using these weapons would have committed a war crime.
