Australia eyes defence business in India

India must sign the NPT !

BUT BEFORE THAT india should make atleast 5000 nuke weapons.

Wow ! so much certainty in your argument ! A pity then that it is you who does not understand the treaty.
The treaty does not stop recognised nuclear weapons powers from increasing their weapon numbers. Are you actually suggesting that no nuclear weapons have been made by those nuclear powers since the mid 70's? How exactly do you think they carried out nuclear tests till the 90's? How do you think they improved their weapons?

You're right.

It's the same government, but a different leader. Nothing will change for the foreseeable future.

Australia is committed to getting rid of all nuclear weapons in the world and is committed to stopping new weapons being created.

Bet Australia came up with that objective after it came under the US nuclear umbrella.

There is a difference between not making sense and not understanding.

Look this isn't personal but the treaty you describe is not the NPT. That treaty, which has all the clauses you describe sadly exists only in your head. India would have been able, someday to sign xdrives's treaty on nuclear weapons but cannot sign the NPT without the treaty itself being altered to accommodate India as a nuclear weapon state. The NPT was primarily designed to keep out India specifically (that's why the cut off date was 1968) from being accepted as a nuclear weapon power. You can find this information on the net if you choose not to believe my words.

Sometimes its funny isnt it....

Some US President took a fancy in hunt for WMDs,accused Iraq of having them, attacked them, destabilized the entire country and killed millions(ofcourse WMDs were not there)...
And now, they are after North Korea.
But,there are two countries, namely India and Pakistan, here in South Asia, both are nuclear capable and didnt sign NPT.But they cant take the same actions against India or Pakistan....
Nobody even talks much about the policy of opacity of Israel regarding its Nuclear weapons program.

Israel has a history of invasion and conducting pre-emptive strikes against its neighbouring countries.Israel has a history of lying to the World about its Nuclear Weapons program. It took a Mordechai Vanunu to blow off the lid.

But,its okay for India,Pakistan or Israel to have nukes. But the World cries fowl when Iraq or North Korea have them..Why???Is it because those countries are militarily weak????

If this is not hypocrisy then what is????

Maybe because those countries are signatories to the NPT & therefore have forsworn nuclear weapons & would be legally in breach of international law if they pursued nuclear weapons. On the other hand, India, Pakistan, Israel never having signed up to the treaty cannot be in breach of the same. It is the sovereign right of a country to sign or choose not to, any treaty. Once signed, breaching it would put you in contravention of International law with all the accompanying consequences.

ok is there any effect from the ausses if we dont sign NPT the answer is a big no

so chill

No, it's fairly obvious why the whole world has a problem with Iraq, Iran and North korea getting nuclear weapons. You don't have to be a rocket scientist.

All 3 of those countries have signed the NPT, therefore by getting nukes they are breaking a contract. Also those 3 nations are run by lunatics (except iraq)

The current government refuses to sell uranium to a country that hasn't sold the nuclear non-prelification treaty.

I hope you would understand that world is not a equitable place where all countries got freedom at the same time.

Most of the developing countries got their independence during 1940s and 50s. At that point of time most of the imperialistic powers were well advanced in economy and science which is the only reason they were able to master up advanced technologies like nuclear technology.

Treaties like NPT and CTBT were a new form imperialism followed by the developed countries to keep their domination over key technologies and prevent any others to join their club.

In short, NPT is a new for of racism and imperialism.

Developing nuclear tech is no easy task, a country needs to have critical mass of economy to create these technologies without the cost affecting the overall development of the country. Many countries fail at these criteria and its better for them to be under a power security umbrella of a another powerful nation.

Those countries have been smart enough to sign the treaty either under pressure or wisely.

These weaker countries have no other option other than to accept world order decided by the developed countries.

If the developed countries expect India to sign-up the treaty on those terms then sorry India will never sign it. They will have to accommodate India by circumventing the NPT as it is being done now.

So, it's not the case where the early birds always get the worm...

You will never be able to understand what I said if you read with a imperialistic and racist mind...

Lol, You speak as if you are part of the Indian government. You are not, and oru countries are already doing defence deals as the article says.

Oh please stop the BS ....If Australia was so concerned about nukes why did sign an Uranium agreement with China, who has actively supported North Korea and Pakistan nuke programs!

But Indian hasn't signed the non prolification treaty saying India won't make nukes with the uranium so thats why sales are banned.

Because NPT is discriminatory. According to NPT China don't have to destroy her nuclear arsenal as they are declared nuclear nation. India can't sign NPT with it's present form, same goes for Pakistan.

Australians are more concern about Uranium. people of Australia do not even want electricity(Uranium) plant on their soil.

They have policy to not to provide Uranium to the country who didn't sign NPT.
And I think we should respect their decision.
