Australia have warned organisers they won't put up with more unacceptable treatment at Thursday's Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

The Australian team were fuming after being forced to wait in "cauldron-like" conditions in the stadium tunnel for an hour before leading the teams out into the main stadium at last week's opening ceremony.

Only about 300 athletes out of the 400-plus squad are expected to be left in New Delhi when the closing is held.

On Monday, chef de mission Steve Moneghetti said Australian Commonwealth Games Association chief executive Perry Crosswhite had demanded more consideration for the athletes at the closing ceremony.

"Perry pushed extremely strongly a couple of points that we want covered off to ensure that there is no situation like the opening ceremony," Moneghetti told reporters.

"Watch this space."

Meanwhile, Moneghetti expects a tough time deciding who gets to carry the flag into the closing ceremony after such a successful campaign, with Australia already boasting more than 60 gold medals.

"Gee, what a great position to be in," he said. "How many we can get to carry the flag because I might need to push the numbers out a bit."

Prime contenders are likely to include swimmer Alicia Coutts, the most successful Australian athlete at the Games with five gold medals in her first campaign, triple gold medallist Anna Meares who spearheaded the all-conquering cycling team and athletics team captain Steve Hooker, the Olympic and world pole vault champion.

If they ask for better facilities politely and through the proper channels, provide them with the best facilities.

If they show any arrogance and "demand" something..show them the middle finger.

Aistralians are cheeky and think of themselves to be some sort of higher kind than the rest of the world.
This whining is a bit of a disgrace.
