The AE series of exercises usually focus on LFE (Large Force Employment/Engagement) concept. You fly in mixed packages so its not really a whole lot of DACT type stuff. I am sure there are scenarios where the BFM type stuff happens, however that is not the primary goal of these exercises.

This is a simulated fight isn't it? I see the 'Sim' symbol on the HUD. I know that on the CF-18, it doesn't allow you to engage unless you have 'boxed sim'

Its Turks and Greeks mixing it up as real as it gets. Nothing to do with simulation of any kind. You can see a HAF Mirage 2000 locked on in the beginning and again at 1:17. Its a recording of the engagement from the AVTR on the F-16.
